License requirements

We are going for our license on Friday. Other than cash our drivers licenses, anything else we need to bring? Also do we need to know anything about our parents? My FMIL is insisting that we need to know where our parents and grandparents were born. I'm doubtful we need this, but would hate for her to be right on this one

    1. $80 in cash or money order (no checks or credit card)
    2. presence of both applicants (Rm 413 City Hall)
    3. current photo ID (driver's license; passport; non-driver's license; international driver's license; resident alien card; or consulate care)
    4. social security card (or other form of ID which reflects applicant's social security number... such as: pay stub; W2; income tax return; prescription card; access card; or social security printout) ... in lieu of a social security number you can provide a birth certificate.

    At least in Philadelphia county, you'll list your parents names and occupations, where they were born and where they currently reside (possibly birthdays, too).  I don't remember anything about the grandparents, though.

    We went to Montgomery County instead of Philly. The fee was $40 instead of $80. We needed our drivers licenses, divorce decrees and you needed to know where your parents were born. That's it. And this is the best part they give it to you right there so you don't have to go back and pick it up. it is post dated 3 days.

    Totally agree. We went to Norristown (MontCo) too. It was quick and no long lines.
