NWR: Where to buy furniture?

My mom sent us a really nice present (ie. money) to go buy some furniture for our new house.  She is so generous!  We kind of need everything, but unfortunately I have champagne taste (ie. Thomasville) on a beer budget.  Where do you guys recommend to find decent quality furniture that isn't crazy expensive?  I'd love a new bedroom set that is real wood.  We could probably spend about $2K.

I don't know how far you can go, but Raymour and Flannigans (it's down in Seekonk, MA, near Prov) has great stuff.  It's normal furniture prices, but they frequently run deals where you can get no interest financing for 5 years.  We got a beautiful bedroom set (bed, dresser, mirror, two night stands), a couch, love seat, coffee table, entertainment center, book shelves, and bar stools all for about $5000.

    ...hello out there!

We had great luck at Cardi's!  We got our bedroom set and dining room set there and LOVE them.  We checked out pretty much every chain store (Bob's, Bernie & Phyls, etc.) and found the best prices at Cardi's.  Furniture shopping is so much fun... good luck!

I second the Jordans in Avon, we got our couch and loveseat there a few years ago and we love them!  We're gonna go this weekend to look at bedroom sets as well, I'll let you know how it is.

Boston Interiors also has a clearance/closeout section in some of their larger stores where you can get really great deals!

My coworker had really good luck with craigslist.  I know some people don't like buying used but she got a queen sized solid wood bedroom set (Thomasville headboard, footboard, bedside table, dresser with mirror) for $300 and it was in great shape.  The people were selling it because they were moving.

We got a beautiful Lexington Furniture bedroom set for around that cost from Jordan's! They carry some of the Lexington line, it's a four poster bed. Also, I love, love, love Arhaus Furniture, got my dining room, kitchen tables, chairs, and huge couch there! Plus a ton of decorations.

CKS Furniture in Medford, MA (near the Kappy's Liquors) has the EXACT same furniture as Jordan's, etc. without the huge mark up and they're always having a great sale.
