Lei question(s??)

Hey Ladies,

I'm trying to pick out leis for our wedding. FI is getting a maile leaf with tuberose. I'm not sure about myself. I've seen white leis with smaller flowers than say orchids. Does anyone know what type of flowers these are? Any suggestions on nice simple leis?? We're also looking to do leis for our parents. What do you all suggest? The same as FI for the Dads, or regular floral leis?? Thanks

Mine was a white orchid lei and the flowers were pretty small. I really liked it and I prefer the look to tuberose for a bride's lei. I'm on my iPad so I can't post a picture in post but if you go to my married bio (link in sig) and there are pictures. DH had a maile lei with white orchids to match. ETA: for the dads I'd definitely do something different than the groom, and same for the moms: something different than the bride. Maybe do just a colored floral lei for both moms and dads or a nut lei for dads and a flower lei for moms.

A pikake lei would be a nice lei for the parents. Im sure they'll appreciate its fragrance.

Pikaki is the traditional bridal lei. They are very small white flowers and smell like paradise. There's pictures of them in my bio. We are doing the leaf lei for D, tuberose for MOH, my daughter and her daughter and orchids for parents.

I had a triple-strand pikake lei and it was beautiful. Like everyone said, they smell like heaven. For the parents and grandparents, we did orchid leis for the females and nut leis for the males.

FYI: no one on Maui makes the pikaki leis. Right now, anyway. You have to have them flown in from Oahu or the Big Island.

White ginger leis are great for the mothers. They are beautiful and smell wonderful.

Cigar leis can be great for men in the bridal party.

Traditional Hawaiian both the bride and groom get Maile but many girls just want a white lie. Pikake is the best but is not always in season for a white girls lei.

Also look into orchid lies that they break apart the flowers for. These are more money then plain orchid but are very nice.
