Treadmill question. XP

I would like to purchase a treadmill. I use it all the time when I work out at the hotel, and I would use it more if it were at my house. I can't decide which route I should go? Help ladies! :P

1) Chad's aunt has a 12 year old treadmill, barely used, very high end. I could get it for $50-S100. The downside is it doesn't fold up and it is bigger than I would like. (It is going in our spare room and there isn't much space in there, and I would like it to fold up so it doesn't look cluttered.)

2) Buy a basic new one for $300-$400 that is a little smaller and folds up. The downside is I can get one for much cheaper. Is the extra money worth more space?

I have the money for the new one but I have no problem saving it. :)

Re: Treadmill question. XP

  • I think you should sacrifice the space for a better treadmill.  Cheap treadmills completely blow.

And honestly?  They're such a pain to fold up that you'll eventually stop folding it up, I promise.

  • I would definitely go for the high end one.  It will probably be quieter, have better cushion, more options, etc.  AND it's cheaper.  Only if you don't plan on using it much would I opt for the smaller new one.

  • Fold up exercise equipment eventually becomes a clothes rack.  True story ;)

Really though, the previous posters are right.  If you know you're going to use it, go with the higher quality.  I have a good, non-folding treadmill that I scored last year during my local yard sale season and although I love it, I'm looking to trade up in the near future for an even higher quality one.  If you can make room for it, I think the higher quality one would be the better deal.
  • Definitley go with a higher quality treadmill,  True makes great treadmills.

Or if you have 80k to spend,  try the Woodway G-Trainer,  Creates a hypobaric chamber in which you run, mimicking zero gravity

Seriously though,  you could always get a pair of asics and head outside!

I'm a personal trainer, and even I can't stand running on a treadmill

That treadmill is So amazing!  I got to test-run one during a fitness expo and it was downright cruel to allow me too because now I want one even though I'll never be able to have one.

I love my treadmill though.  Without it there would be limited running for me for half the year.  South Dakota weather is not outdoor activity friendly :)
  • Really?

    I am extremely jealous.

Have yet to try one and don't know if I'll get the chance,  most phys therapists dont really have them on hand  :(

    It was amazing!

Now I have to get my enthusiasm back up for the Vision 9600 Premier that I'm 90% sure is going to be my upgrade treadmill.
  • I love Woodways in general.  So nice on my shins.
