I've actually been there! It's beautiful. The rooms were great and it's right on the beach. It was probably one of the nicest military hotels I have ever stayed at. Oahu is definitely my favorite island.

I stayed at a military hotel on base when my fiance was hurt and in the hospital. It was convenient to be on base but I wasn't impressed with the hotel so that's good to hear lol

i used to live in hawaii (just relocated to the east coast in may) and i used to go to their outside bar which is right on the beach! i doubt you'll be in your room that much anyway right? let me know if you need any suggestions for sight seeing etc on the island

I used to live in HI and stayed at the Hale Koa quite a few times. The rooms are nice and clean, the standard hotel-sized rooms. I like the tiered-pricing in regards to your rank, that's pretty cool.

The only thing I hated about the Hale Koa was the location. It's right downtown Waikiki, which is always, always packed with tourists. Also, parking can be horrendous there, so I always wound up parking in the lot across the street (it's for military-only as well). I got tired of being surrounded by people real quick.

To me, having tons of tourists in my face all day long would not be my ideal honeymoon fantasy. I'd much prefer to stay up on the North Shore, like at Turtle Bay, where there are much less people and more quiet beach opportunities.
