Letterpress That Doesn't Make Me Want to Punch Someone?

Hi guys. Does anyone know of a cool, hip letterpress printer that isn't all calligraphy, clinking glasses, flowers, owls and is all romantic and solemn. I love letterpress, but my FI wants something really cool and hand drawn looking by someone who is a letterpress artist but not a slave to the current trend of that ridiculous romance novel look (we're both painters, he's also a sculptor.) I can't say as I blame him. If I see one more letterpress invitiation that's got flowers and two clinking glasses on it with a stupid bird in there somewhere, truly, I'm going to vomit. Thanks everyone!

Try Postscript Brooklyn or Printerette Press. We got the "Gatsby" style from the latter, and it's all art deco style text, no silly stuff. Also try Etsy, search for "modern letterpress wedding invitation." that's how I found a bunch. Good luck!

We're getting a lot closer now thanks to your recs. I also discovered Wishbone Letterpress out of the Hudson Valley in my research. Their work has a cool, tattoo style to the ink and paper. It looks hand lettered instead of preppy mass produced.

You've got to check out Giant Squid Letterpress, based in NYC, it's a punk kid who does awesome letterpress stuff, and will work with budgets. Everything is custom, too, which is really nice.
