Surprise FAIL

I had boudoir pictures taken last weekend as a surprise wedding gift for Rick..I got the invoice for the album this morning and paid for it on Paypal. Rick just asked me what the $80.00 charge to his credit card for HKPhotography was from...yep, totally forgot that we have both of our cards listed on my PayPal account, and didn't even think to see which one I was paying with. Ugh.

ug so did you tell him? i would have lied and said it was a photographer that i was getting for the rehearsal or something like that. or like a prepayment for a photobook for after the wedding, that they were running a special or something.

Aw man! Well at least it is still close enough to the wedding to give it to him! Thats sucks but is totally something I would do.

KJB, all of our stuff is included with our photographers, so I think lying would have made it worse, like I was spending extra money on something we didn't need. I am HORRIBLE at surprises

Yeah I am a terrible liar and I hate surprises. I could say it was a surprise and H would be okay with it, and then I would blurt it out after he had forgotten all about it. I am terrible.

LDY, it was kind of a last minute thing. I was only the 2nd set of b-pics this woman had taken, so it was a good deal. I was nervous beforehand, but it was actually a lot of fun. I posted one the other day, but I don't mind AW-ing again

I don't know what I'd tell him. You can tell him be glad its not $500 (which is what mine cost, which is why we don't have it yet).

So this is weird, but I'm curious and I like you

So you were like in bra and panties or lingerie or something? I'm thinking about doing it for H for our 1 year (a picture is paper, right?) but I think I'd be so nervous in front of someone I dont really know with my gut all hanging out. I'm a naked friend and I'll change in front of anyone, but I dont know how I feel about someone taking pictures of it to be immortalized...

Sarah, it was $100 for the session, but $50 went towards the album. So she only made $50 off of it, the other $120 went to printing the album. She's just getting started, so very reasonable.

LDY, I did both. I had met this woman before, but didn't really know her. She was awesome. We just carried on a conversation like it was totally normal, and she was really funny. I don't mind showing them to you if you want to PM me your email address, I just don't want everyone to have access to them

LDY, I did b-pics because my photographer friend needed some in her portfolio to show a prospective client (I wasn't even engaged, and they were free because she really just needed a model). I wore one of H's handball jersey's as one outfit - it's a dress on me - then black boyshort underwear with an unbuttoned white button-down shirt and heels as another and then some were just bra and underwear. I'm technically topless in a couple but either with my back turned or with my hands/arms across my chest. There are lots of options, and a good photog can pose you to make you look skinny.

Jill, I'm sorry your surprise was ruined! You look really pretty in that pic though.

I'm actually excited to see someone else fail at that surprise lol!!

My fiancee is deployed to Afghanistan and I'm doing them as a a 2pt surprise. I failed

I was sooo worried that his roommate would see them so I had to say something about PLEASE DONT OPEN THIS IN PUBLIC...

My photos aren't until June, but I WAY excited. I just happened to have my best friend as a professional photog lol!

It's gonna be so much fun!

I didn't even know this concept existed until I got seriously invested in The Knot recently. I'm trying to decide if it would be a nice surprise for my fiance, or just a really uncomfortable experience for me. Also, my fiance is a photographer himself, so I don't know how he'd feel about someone else photographing me, especially in such a "compromised" position. Is this something I should seriously consider?

You could always have him do them, just do a TON! And you pick your faves for him and design the book and such so even though he knows what the photos look like, he won't see the finished product until you give it to him as a gift :)
