Ugly Schmucks (no, not you!)

Remember when everyone was all offended by the dating site just for "beautiful" people?

Well, some dude just started a site for "ugly" people.  It works the same was as the pretty people site, in that members can vote out people who are "too attractive".

WDYT?  I think the people who sign up for that site must have some dismally low self-esteem.

Re: Ugly Schmucks (no, not you!)

  • I'm surprised anyone would sign up for it. I mean, if your self-esteem is low enough to think that, would you really go out and find a site to proclaim the fact?
  • I don't understand the concept of voting off people who are "too attractive."  Does this mean that this low self-esteemed people want to date other people with equally low self-esteem?  All of this sounds so darned unhealthy.
  • The guy who made the site is a college student and said he is a "self proclaimed ugly person", and he's proud of it.  Weird.

I don't think I've ever known or seen anyone that I honestly thought, "Damn, you should only date other ugly people!"

And really, aren't they just perpetuating ugly babies?  (joke)

  • Is this the site you're talking about, or is there going to be a US version?

  • No, it's literally called Ugly Schmucks (.com I guess- it's in the story).

  • Did you notice that everyone they interviewed was reasonably attractive?

  • How strange. But I guess whatever you can make money off of.

What bothers me is that online sight for married people to have an affair. I can't remember the name of it but I remember hearing an ad on the radio for it several months ago and it just made me feel queasy.

I thought that too at first. But I guess if someone feels they're ugly it would be easier for them to be around others who feel the same way maybe?

You're talking about Ashleymadison. There was an article about it in Maxim last year and I heard a few commercials for it on the radio.

Personally, I think it's a horrible site. i realize that people are going to do what they're going to do, but it just seems so blatant, like "you don't have to be ashamed anymore that you're a cheater". I think that's what bothers me the most.

Well, I guess there's a great starting point for private detectives looking for dirt of cheating spouses.  What a disgusting site, making money from infidelity.  I remember hearing the adds and feeling sick to my stomach.

Yes that's it. Like another PP mentioned, people will cheat if they want to. But goodness, I feel like that introduces a whole new level of ease intot he process. It just makes me sick.

Maybe some of them join hoping they'll be voted off for being "too attractive", therefore boosting their self-esteem?

I think all these voting sites are sick, regardless. It's bad enough when people submit themselves to them, but stuff like the "rate my baby" sites? How insecure do you need to be to need masses of people tell you whether or not your baby is cute? That's just disturbing.
