Homemade? Can't find what I'm looking for

I need help if you can. My fianc and I only eat 100% organic and non-gmo foods. Where can we find a cakery that can produce a 100% organic/nongmo cake? I see lots for vegan friendly and gluten free but that does not matter as much to us. Also, if we can't find a bakery (which would not surprise me) would it be okay to make our own cake a small cake for us to eat everyone else would get "normal" cake. Or have my mother make it? Stressful! Thanks for your input!

  • Have you checked with Whole Foods? I heard their cake is amazing...not sure if it fits into your criteria but may be worth a shot? Good luck!

I would also post this on your local board (Local Wedding Boards to the left), someone on there might know of a local bakery that can provide what you need.  I typically frown on everyone not getting at least an option to have the same thing, but every wedding I've been to where cupcakes were served, the bride and groom had a small cake that they got to do the cake cutting and ate, while the guests got cupcakes.  Maybe you could do it this way and no one would really know that yours is anything different than theirs?
  • Post on your local board for specific suggestions.  As for making the cake yourself (or your mom), you need to check to make sure that your venue and caterer allow outside food to be brought in, especially when it was not made in a licensed bakery.  I don't know why you only eat organic and non-GMO foods, but if it's for ethical or moral reasons, I would think it was odd that you would serve it to your guests at an event that you were hosting even though you wouldn't eat it yourself.
