I went to a wedding in Miami this past weekend, and it was ex-trav-a-gant! I'm sure their flower budget was equal to the cost of my wedding! While everything was beautiful, it lacked sentimentality, and kinda had the vibe of being at a club. It was a great wedding to be a guest at, but FI and I agreed we like our own style (of course!)
I'm totally upset over my 35 yo nieces attitude toward my 15 yo niece who's the same age as the 35 yo's daughter. The 35 yo has decided to throw some drama and is refusing to come to the wedding or let her daughter come who she'd already agreed would be part of the wedding!
I'm mad, hurt and frankly it will take me a while to get past the feelings I have. The hard part will be when I see the 35 yo's dad in May (he's the BMan and my BIL - my sis is the MOH). I do agree that the 35 yo has a right as a parent of what she wants her kid to do and where to go, but this is my first wedding! Grrr!
While I was out for dinner with my BMs before my Bach-party started, this girl who is engaged to one of FI's close friends was sitting at the next table with FI's friend and another couple.... She told my MOH that she wouldn't be able to make the Shower or Bach because of work/school stuff. So it looks like she's a little liar, liar, pants on fire! And the worst part is that she totally avoided eye contact with me and didn't say anything the entire 30 min. we were both seated in the restaurant, it was extremely awkward. I asked other SO's of FI's friends (whom I'm close with and were at the Shower/Bach) what they thought, and they agreed it was hella sketch. FI's friend and she also RSVP'd not attending to the wedding, I wonder if their "reasons" are REAL or not now.
Anywho, when they hold their 2nd reception (after having a designation wedding, and are obviously gift grabby...imo), I plan on NOT buying from their registry, and buying something strange and awkward from the clearance section of Macy's so they won't be able to return it. Porcelain Roosters are coming to mind
