We just came back from the Riu Caribe in Cancun... and I would like all honeymooners to know that RIU is the best hotel chain out there! You feel like you're royalty there! I LOVED it..
My future in laws go to Riu hotels all the time and they've never had 1 complaint.

Just an FYI for all you knotties planning your HMs!
P.s this wasn't our honeymoon...

    I stayed there last January and also LOVED it!!! The RIU Caribe is considered the lowest star resort in Cancun and I honestly thought it was better than both the Palace and their other one... I forget what it is called.  The only thing is... I wouldn't suggest this resort if you are really looking for the romantic honeymoon... more family oriented.  The whole wrist band thing and making reservations at 7am or you couldn't eat at the a la carte rest. was a pain.  We actually had to book our reservations for the restaurants a couple days in advance and the only times available were late in the evenings.  The staff and property was beautiful though :)
