Budget venue with food/drinks included

I'm looking for a low-cost venue for both the ceremony and reception for 80-90 guests, and ideally I'd like food and drink to be included as part of the total venue price. I'm willing to go with a venue that requires separate catering if need be, however almost every catering website I visit doesn't include price info, so it's very difficult to figure out how to match up venue price with catering price when I haven't decided on either a venue or a caterer yet.

It has to be in DC or MD (we're a same-sex couple so VA is out), and we're on a tight budget -- around $15k for everything. I am a big fan of the Vandiver Inn in Havre de Grace but my fiancee is hoping we can find something closer to DC, where we live -- ideally, we'd love somewhere in between DC and Baltimore.

Thanks for any suggestions you may have! :)

Re: Budget venue with food/drinks included

  • A lot of places have a 100 person minimum for a Saturday wedding.  You may want to consider a Friday evening or Sunday afternoon wedding, which will stretch your dollars further.

Chase Court in Baltimroe City is on the smaller side for a venue, so they may not have the same 100 person minimum.  They do not have an in-house caterer, but Atlantic Caterers is on their approved list.  They are awesome, the food is dilicious and Kristin will work with any budget.

Atlantic is also Pro-LGBT, they just sponsored the first wedding showcase entirely for same-sex couples about 2 weeks ago.  http://www.atlanticcaterers.com/ (They also have a FB page, but can't link to that at work.)

    Congratulations and good luck!!

  • Chase court is great, But also Normandy Farms in Potomic is great as well with the budget you have. But I don't want to sound rude but the Vandiver Inn would  the best  place for your event < Side eye Roll>  My sister just contacted them for her fall wedding as her planner lives in Havre De Grace. You have to rent many of the rooms there the event has to end by mid evening there, It was a no brainer for her and your signficate other as well  Trying to be nice on what I post.. Lirodenron is where she is going as well using that of Atlantic Catering.< Loved them when I planed my wedding but weren't available on my day>
She also looked at St. Georges in DC  great site
    Congressional DC
    Holiday Inn Embasy Row
    Westin

She has the same amount of guests and with the site she chose and the ones I listed with her planner she is way under budget. Hope this helps
  • When we were planning to get married at a venue with outside catering, we taste tested with Bricello's Catering and Hunt Valley Catering. Both let us do tastings, and had great food and budget-friendly prices. Bricello's was better food (they're more like creative trained chefs than cookie cutter wedding caterers), and I believe the price was around $60. Hunt Valley was great food, but it's cooked in the am and then brought to your venue. The price can't be beat, it was like $45 per person for hors douvres and a buffet plus $9 per person for open bar.

Curious what was wrong with Vandiver Inn (I'm planning to book there for 2014). We have to book the 8 guest rooms in the main house, since it's right next to the reception area, but the bride and groom don't have to pay for the rooms (guests pay and it goes towards our "minimum"). And for timing, our music has to end at 9, which is a little early but I didn't think that was terribly early.. there's a fun local bar within walking distance for the after party. I haven't been too many weddings that ended before 10 so please let me know if you think that's really odd timing for a wedding??
  • I'm a little late to this post, but try looking at Hotel Monaco in Baltimore or any of the Kimpton Hotels - they are very LGBT friendly and very flexible with what you are looking for. Their package includes a custom menu, cake & open bar. They will put you close to your $15k budget if you have 90guests but I couldn't be happier with how great they have been to work with and all the options they have.
