How are you layering your invites in the envelope?

I was thinking invite on top, then underneath having the reply card tucked into the fold of the reply envelope but I'm not quite sure if thats the "right" way to do it or if anyone had a better idea of how to layer the contents of the invitations. (all we have is the invite, the reply card and the reply envelope)

I did that, but my invite was on the bottom. It was a lot bigger than the reply card so I tucked the reply card under fold of reply envelope and stuck them in after my invite.

This is how I did it, not sure if it is "proper" but they went in the mail yesterday so....

Invite on top, accommodation card behind invite, rsvp card behind accommodation card, rsvp envelope behind rsvp card, with the flap wrapping around to the front of the invite, kind of holding it all together. I positioned it in the envelope to where you see the invite with the rsvp envelope flat first (and hopefully pull it out that way).

I put my invitation on top, reception/accommodation (they're on the same card just front & back) card next, then the RSVP card tucked inside the RSVP envelope on bottom. I'm not sure if this is "right" or if there even is a right/wrong way to do this, but that's how we did it.

I have a "wedding invitation" book and it specificies that the proper way to stack your invites and enclosures is smallest to biggest. I did not like this, because then my invite was not the first thing people saw. So, I stacked mine this way:

-Invite on top
-Reception card
-Rsvp card tucked into envelope (but I turned the envelope upside down so guests would see the "please respond" on top).
-Accommodations/directions card--it's my ugliest card, so I wanted it covered by everything else.

I didn't really care if this followed the "rules" or not. I put a lot of work into my invites and wanted to make sure the first thing guests saw was my invite.

I only have the invitation and RSVP card (I didn't do accomodation cards). The invite has two sides that fold down and then there is a ribbon that wraps around it. I tucked the RSVP into the flap of the envelope so you could see RSVP and then tucked it into the invite. Atleast that's what I did with the one I mailed yesterday.

I put my invitation, then enclosures then RSVP card. Although I had a belly band to keep everything together, so the invite and enclosures/RSVP card were back to back if that makes sense.

I guess I also broke the rules, but I wanted the invite to be the first thing people saw when they opened the envelope.

I was planning on following Martha Stewart's etiquette article on it, however, how many people really care that much? (besides those nuts on the etiquette board LOL)

I think the way you all have done it is just fine, I certainly am not offended by the way an invite is stacked in the envelope

So, you slipped the RSVP card into the band on the back of the invite? (RSVP on the outside back, facing out?). This sounds like a better idea than what I had thought.

Welp, this was definitely one of those things I didn't even consider might have an etiquette! Too late now!

Anyways, I went smallest to biggest-- accommodations card and rsvp card tucked into the RSVP envelope flap, layered on top of the invite.

Biggest to smallest face side up. I layered my invite, then the envelope with RSVP card, then the reception card. The back of the invite is facing the front of the envelope so when you open the envelope the invite and inserts are face up.

Thank you all for your ideas.

I think I'm more concernered about how it will all look. I also want the invite to be the first thing people see so I was going to have that on top. Maybe I'll play around with them a little more and see what looks best.
