FMIL and Engagement Party Woes!

Re: FMIL and Engagement Party Woes!

  • If she is throwing the party, then she gets to dictate those things.  Remember this as you continue your wedding planning.   Money often comes with strings, and in the event of a wedding it usually means that whoever is contributing gets control over how those funds are used.

There are worse things in life than bad invitations.  I would let it go and move on.
  • Seriously? A wedding vibe? Outside of the fact that the only person who could possibly be seen as "horrible and cheap" is the host of the party, I can honestly say that NO ONE (normal people) holds an invitation against another person to the point that it reflects on future events or their over all character. It's her party. Go and have a good time or decline. But to make a big deal...to being your family into it, is just petty.

  • Agree with the others.  This is a party hosted FOR you guys, it isn't a signal of the theme/vibe/formality  of your wedding.  If anyone thinks the invitations aren't so hot it's no big deal, they go in the garbage anyway.

Don't say anything else to her.  She seems excited to do this for you.  The invitations really don't matter, but the thought sure does.
  • So did you delete becuase you are ashamed for bei g so petty and self entered (you kno focusing on a piece of paper vs appreciating the generous gesture your MIL was offering) or did you delete becuase you couldn't get people to agree with your seal entered position?
