Has anyone ever had their dog as a ring bearer?

I would love to have our dog be our ring bearer.  He is a very well behaved dog and loves to dress up.  I was thinking of putting a bow tie on him that we bought him for our engagement party and have FFIL walk him down the aisle with a ring cushion on his back.

We would just need someone to be able to bring him to the ceremony and then pick him up and watch him over night for us.

Thoughts?  Am I crazy for wanting this?

Besides the concern you already mentioned regarding logistics, some other things you may want to consider include:

    1. Will your ceremony venue allow it?  Even if it's outdoors, the venue may not be fond of the idea.

    2. Make sure no one in attendance is severely allergic to dogs.

I, personally, would never do it, but I'm not against it either.

Are you having your ceremony in the same place as your reception? If not and if you are starting the day at home, why don't you just dress up the dog and have him in some of the pics? That may be a better option.

Yes we are getting married at The Tides Estate outside.  I am pretty sure I will be getting dressed in the bridal suite that day.

I will definitely need to contact the venue to see if they would allow it.  If they do I was just thinking that it could be fun.  The ceremony is going to be short probably about 15 minutes.  So I can have our dog come right before the ceremony is about to start and then he would leave right after.

I am thinking that if they would even allow it that I would have one of my brothers friends bring him for us and then watch him over night.

I did it and everyone loved it.  We got married at The Garrison outside, and they were fine with it.  We had Fetch NJ (a pet-sitting service) bring her from NYC to Garrison (about an hour) and back.  She stayed for the ceremony and a few minutes for photos after.  I bought her a custom bone-shaped ring pillow from Etsy Laughing, but we didn't give her the actual rings.  They were dummy rings.

my fiancee cousin did it with both her dogs! They had thier ceremony outside at the old mill inn.... It was super cute and they had dummy rings! The flower girls were holding thier leash and after the ceremony was over, someone brought them home!

If FI had his way, we would be doing this. We just can't figure it out logistically. We have no one to get her there and bring her back. I am not even sure we are going to be able to get her in any pics! I am bummed!
