DIY Save-The-Date Magnets

So, we are going to doing save the date magnets, but we are making them ourselves. I think I saw on someone's blog that they had done this (I think STBMrs.Martin), and I was wondering if anybody had any pictures?

We are planning on printing the pictures, and then using some kind of adhesive to attach a strip of magnet to the top and bottom, but we are both worried about it looking cheap.

Any, and all help is appreciated!

You don't even have to use adhesive strips.  They make magnetic photo paper that you can feed through your printer.  That's what I did.  I printed multipe STD's to a page and then used a scrapbooking paper cutter to measure them and cut them out.  Check my bio under the details section.  They did not look cheap and everyone loved them!

Yes, it is in my blog. It didn't look cheap at all. I steer away from things looking cheap ;-). My sister in law did them too and recieved a lot of compliments on them.

I only used the magnet at the top and it worked very well. Didn't have to put them at the bottom since the photo was a 4x6 size.

Everyone thought that I had my STD's done professionally.

I printed mine at Walgreens because I didn't want to waste my ink.

Check out www.vistaprint.com. We got our STD postcards there, and they are CONSTANTLY running things like "get 100 postcards/magnets/business cards/anything else for FREE."  If they aren't on sale right now, they will be soon if you can wait.  (Sign up for their emails and you'll see what I mean.)  We wanted to do our own, but it was so cheap to use them, and we uploaded our own design, and they just did the printing!

i don't know what size you're looking to do, but we did full-sized STDs and then made business card-sized magnets. I bought the adhesive business card magnets at office depot (100 pack for about $12) and picked nice DIY business card cardstock at Office depot (around $10 for 100) and then used the pre-made template to set it up and print it.

Don't know if you're looking for something this small, but HTH

Awesome. Thank you for all the suggestions.  Askweres: Where did you buy the magnet "paper" from? I have looked online and haven't been able to find it.

STBMrsMartin and FutureMrsRoss: Thanks for the suggestion! I will also check out vistaprint to see what is the more afforable option.

    Thanks. :)

I found it at Office Depot or Office Max.  Can't remember which one.

We used Vistaprint and did the business card magnets.  200 ran about $40...  I used Coin Envelopes from Office Max and stamped them with a stamp I bought online.  I also used white envelopes.  I think I probably spent about $100 all in for 200.  Here is a photo...  I didn't end up using the gold on the outside envelope... that was a test run to a bridesmaid!

Just saw that VistaPrint is now doing their small AND large magnets for free!  Just FYI.
