What are your plans for your wedding dress after the wedding?

I'm just curious... are you planning to resell it? donate it? or preserve it? I'll plan to preserve it, coz i love my dress - then see if i still fit in it in 10 years or so... but we'll see if i change my mind... hahaa

  • I think I'm going to preserve it for now...we'll see how I feel about it in a few years, I might donate it then if I find a good cause. I was all about keeping my prom dresses forever, but I'm getting ready to donate them before they get too out of style, so that another girl can love them as much as I did.

  • Preserve it.
  • my seamstress is making a batism gown out of mine.

  • I bought a preservation kit.  My mom preserved hers and we used parts of it for my veil.  It smelled bad though.  I hope the kit works.

  • Sell it.

  • on a side note is anyone going to preserve your bouquet?  I thought about it, but it's kind of expensive.

  • preserve and hopefully display it one day!

  • Probably preserve it.  It's stupid & sentimental, but I don't think I could part with it.  I know my mom didn't save hers and I was a little sad that I never could see it/try it on.

  • Preserve it for now. I am also going to keep my bouquet and preserve it or do something with it.
  • My dress was destroyed-ripped and stained. I think I'll get it cleaned but not pay to have it preserved. Then I'll wear it someday (my friends have been planning a day in which we sit around in our wedding dresses and drink wine) if it still fits. I'll probably look at it now and again.

I would love to preserve my bouquet but I can't spend that much money. I just love that little thing, it still is in a vase in our kitchen.

  • I was absolutely planning on donating it...until I picked it up right before the wedding.  For some goofy reason, my feelings did a 180 and now, I plan on keeping it.  I need to look into having it preserved now.  HAHA  As for my bouquet, I have it hanging in my closet upside down for now.  I know this isn't the best way to keep it looking beautiful but, I don't want to spend the money to have it "preserved".
  • Im still debating between a TTD (like in a forest on a rainy day with mud and water) which will pretty much distroy it but will produce amazing photos. OR donating it. I know donating it is the 'nicer option', but w eare paying so much for photos and our photographers agree to cut us a really good deal for a TTD session later, and the dress was a clearence dress that the photos cost more then the dress did...so....we'll see.

  • Really leaning towards trash the dress....I have no illusions of a future daughter wearing it. I do like the idea of maybe making part of it into a baby dress.

    I'm not sure...

  • I'll probably donate mine, but I'm not 100% sure.  I like the idea someone said about having theirs made into a baptism gown.  Pretty sure I'm not going to leave it in the closet though.
