uplights

what are the price range?
is it really worth?

Re: uplights

  • I know a company here that has their starting price at around $150, but, of course, it may vary by area. And I think they can look really nice, but it's a matter of personal preference.

  • The lighting company were using starts at 950 for uplighting. Whether or not it's worth it is up to you. It's not necessary but lighting can certainly make a difference if done well.
  • Ours were LED and $40 / can. It depends on the kind of light and how many you need. There may also be set up / break down delivery charges. This likely will vary by region, too.
  • Its definately a reginal thing. With my DJ, I was able to add uplighting for $150 for 21 cans, so that was an amazing deal. The lowest I found before him was $50 a can. So definately shop around.

  • We looked into uplighting and scrapped it because of the delivery fee.  While the lighting itself was something like 400 dollars, the delivery and pick up fees were almost 700.  I didn't miss it.
  • Luckily my FFIL works for a lighting/electrical company and managed to get 12 LED bars for next to nothing (compared to what DJ and event companies were offering, and we can sell them or reuse them later). His opinion that the par cans would get too hot and that $25 per light was far too much for a piece of equipment that was outdated. However, even though it is pricey it makes a huge impact and I would say it's worth it. Some DJ companies have good deals and you could even just rent it yourself, but have someone who knows about setting up electrical equipment helping you.
  • While they can be on the expensive side, I love them and think its worth it. But shop around for the best price. Also google uplighting and look at the pics. They make a huge difference and can totally change the look of the room.
