Only 5 more vendors to go.. Anyone else get a headache just thinking about it? I think vendors should pay US to use their services lol

Honestly we went for broke. We had a honeymoon fund that we set up right after we got engaged and every pay we would put away as much as we could...I would sometimes put in 200 to 400 a month, or as often as possible. The last few months were rougher cause of the house needing stuff so I didnt put much in. Long story short I had a mini panic attack thinking we have x months left and noone paid off yet so I just took out of the fund. It was bitersweet but it's now checked off the damn list lol

<div>Wow...much applause for you. I wish I would have done this come a 1year ago. I would have saved up enough for my part in the wedding by now :( That would be a great tip to pass on to others when 1st getting engaged. </div>

  • haha I feel your pain... about to use about half of our wedding savings on deposits for caterer and photographer... so nerve wracking to spend so much!! I'm going to run the figures by my photographer friend. I love our photographer, and the initial package is very reasonable, but they would charge about $500 for the next package up and the only difference is that they include a DVD of "professionally retouched high-res, print-ready images" which I feel like I could have done cheaper elsewhere... any opinions on the subject?

So wait, your package doesn't include any images? Or just what they take, without being re-touched?  I think I'm confused, I thought almost all photographers included images. I know ours did. I think they even almost forgot to send our dvd..we remembered it AFTER the e-shoot and that it was mentioned in the initial contract but never talked about. I made sure to push for it and we got it with everything!
For 500$ how many images are you getting? Maybe you can talk her down to picking 50-100 images, print ready, for a cheaper cost?

Thanks! it definitely wasnt easy. Every pay week I would sit there and debate.... "go out with friends or dump $$ into the fund?!"  There were definite concessions made but in the long run it was worth it. We still put $ in, just not as much as originally. (I LOVE halloween and we've been decorating like pros lol)

  • The initial package is: "

    MP3 Download Collection

    - 2 photographers

    - one-hour engagement shoot

    - a private online image gallery where you, your friends, and family can enjoy the photographs and order web downloads and prints (custom-printed by Chris)"

    the next package up:

    45rpm Collection ($500 more)

    MP3 Download Collection plus:

    - a DVD of professionally retouched high-res, print-ready images

So I'm thinking I'll just go with the first package, and get a photographer friend to retouch my favorites? or would it be worth it to get the DVD? I worry that there will be a watermark that someone else wouldn't be able to remove, but I have no clue about this photography stuff...

  • Congrats!

My photographer was the 3rd wedding vendor we booked, first was our wedding planner, then venue (which we changed) and then photographer. When I first emailed her she was charging $2900 (basic package) for 6 hours of wedding coverage, 2 hour engagement session and all images on a CD. But before we booked her, but during the initial process her minimum fee went up to $3900 for the same package and I became sooo worried. But she honoured the price for us still, and we are paying around $3400 for 9 hours of photography since she threw in some hours and we worked out a package for me.

It was so much money and scary at first putting so much done but I am in love with our photographer and her work. I lurk so many wedding photographers websites and she is still probably my favourite.

  • If you're getting a dvd they are yours to keep sans watermark. We got one along with a paper that says we have print permissions. Just ask your photographer if thats what you receive. Id say it is worth it ONLY if they are more than 100 pics AND they are all retouched. Like I wouldnt pay all that extra just for 50 proofs I can take anywhere, make sense?
