question/survey about invitations

*this was also posted in my local board*

Hey all,
sorry I haven't been on as much as i would like-but moving was helltastic and as always I don't get to go online during the day at work or anything like that--but i've been trying to catch up on reading through the posts.
anyhooo-
i was just wondering where everyone got their invitations and if they wouldn't mind putting a ballpark figure on how much they spent on them?  if you rather email me personally-i'm at crespo.alexis@gmail.com -i know thats sorta rude to ask-but hey thought i'd try!
i'm having a hard time picking some out-and it's really getting down to the wire here--i just can't seem to find any that I like that are not in the 1000's of dollars-and the fi is so ridiculously picky its soo annoying!
phew-got that off my chest!
TIA!
-alexis
also since this is the retro board i'd thought you guys would have some amazing vintage styled invitations I can look at.

Re: question/survey about invitations

  • I am doing my own and so for the quote I was given, in NY from a local printer is 170.00 but I realize the forgot to add in teh response care and envelope so I will go back and get another quote - mine is plain - 2 envelope and 1 invitation.

  • I love the invites on Etsy but they do run anywhere from $500 to $1000 or more.  Zazzle has some awesome vintage invites that you can get for a much lower range.  Also Magnet Street has some awesome stuff that you can personalize more.  Depends on how many you need though and the style you are looking for.

Ours cost $250 including tax and I can't remember if shipping is included or not, but whatever..

We're having ours designed by a seller on etsy we found through an alchemy bid.  She's designing and printing...

    5 x 7 inch flat invite X 50
    RSVP X 50
    envelope liners X50
thank you cards (small enough to fit into a 4 bar envelope) X 50 (we will probably ask her for more in the future, though)

She's also including an outer (raspberry) envelopes and (merlot) RSVP envlopes.  She's also return addressing the RSVP envelopes with a calligraphy stamp in white ink that she's giving to us also.

I also told her I'd provide my own 4-bar envelopes for teh thank you cards, because I have so so many.

You can check my bio if you're interested in what's been done so far.

  • We did our own, and while we love them, we spent a solid week of our lives printing, cutting and assembling them. That doesn't even include the work I did designing them ...

We got the cardstock from Cards and Pockets, and just printed them on our home printer...
  • I'm getting mine from an Etsy seller. We're not sure what the final price is going to be. .She's actually a friend from one of the Nest boards, so I'm getting them at cost. The samples she sent us are fantastic, I posted about them a couple of days ago.
Depending on how expensive they are we want her to do the programs and thank you cards as well.
  • I got mine for about $50 at Michaels. Came with labels, ribbon, jackets, invitations, reply cards, seals. Will print them at home. I can't justify spending more. People will just throw them away.

  • I also would have gone the Michaels route but I couldn't find anything I loved.

We also made our own and we spent about $120 to order the cardstock (outside & inside) vellum response envelopes and mailing envelopes. We got them from paper and more. That price also includes the printing at Kinkos (which should have been $60 but I got it for $20) This is for about 150+ invitations.
  • Not positive yet but we are most like going with Carlson Craft (one of my friend's sisters is a retailer).  Not exactly what I could have designed but there are lots of nice simple designs at good prices so I had to have the talk with myself that people are going to throw them out and I don't have the budget for super fancy cards nor do I have the hours to do it all myself.  http://viewccproducts.cceasy.com/ Hope that helps.  I'd love to know what you end up going with.
  • We spent about $250 for a little over 100 invites... but we did all of the hard work ourselves.

Pocketfolds from cardsandockets.com, panels for inside the pockets (about 5 x 7) printed at Kinkos (we were going to screen print them but we got down to the wire and didn't have the time :-/), 3 inserts per invite (printed on cardstock and cut ourselves- again, cardsandpockets.com- I love their colors), an RSVP postcard printed at Kinkos (again, designed and cut by us), with the envelopes, ribbons, etc to finish them up.

(Could have been a little cheaper, but we printed our panels and RSVP postcards on glossy cardstock)

  • wow thanks guys!

there are a lot that I found that I like i just thought i'd be able to find something that I truly loved that went with our theme (vintage halloweenesque) and wasn't over $500--plus I wouldn't mind doing a lot of the work myself but...
this will sound horrible--but the FI doesn't trust me to do any major DIY "just in case".

but i'll def post what I end up going with--since we have to pick this week if I don't want to be rushing the invites out.
