similar venue to Royal Ambassador

hello,
i was looking into having my wedding ceremony and reception at the Royal Ambassador but after being quoted the price, it's definitely out of the picture. my wedding date is in sept 2013 and the price is $150 per person plus tax and 10% gratuity on top of the total cost. it will cost me over $20 000 for 125 people on a $25 000 wedding budget for the venue only

i really like the grounds and the reception tent. the ceremony was to be held at the lakeside gazebo.
does anyone know if any venues that may be silmilar to this? a tented reception area or at least a beautiful outdoor ceremony space. also the price has to be better.

    I actually booked the Royal Ambassador and was able to get a better price than that.

    However, some of the similar things to check out would be:

    Terra Cotta Inn.  It's creek side, so has some water.  It's also sort of tented.  It's a bit hard to explain, but worth a look. http://www.cotta.ca/

    Caledon Inn is also tented, but no water. http://www.thecaledoninn.ca/weddings-events/

    The Old Mill Inn and Spa http://www.oldmilltoronto.com/weddings-parties I never actually checked this one out, but it was recommended to me.

    That's what I can think of off the top of my head.

    I was able to book my ceremony only at the Royal Ambassador, and as the previous poster stated, you can get a better price than what you were quoted, it all depends on your menu

    Some other opitions are

    The Mansion in Kettleby

    Caledon Country Club
    www.golfcaledon.com

    You can also look at golf courses you will find some beautiful ones:
    Nobelton Lakes Golf Course
    Woddington Lakes Golf course

    Hipannie - I loved it too!  But the deal breaker for us was that it was about 20 minutes from the nearest hotel and our wedding co-ordinator advised that the cops like to sit close to the venue to do "spot" checks for RIDE.  And unfortunately, a shuttle bus isn't in our budget.  :(

    Thanks for the heads up!  We did book a shuttle for our guests, but it's good to know we should warn anyone who might drive.

    Royal was nice but check out all those place everybody mentioned. I really liked the terra cotta inn and the Caledon country club. Check out Hockley Valley Resort as well. I almost booked Terra Cotta Inn but decided on Hockley

    *The Manor* in Kettleby. and its very comparable to the Royal Ambassador! These were my sisters top two choices last year. I think The Manor ended up being a bit cheaper and thats why she chose it!
