  • If you tell us your budget and what type of venue you are looking for we can better narrow it down for you.

  • I'm not too particular about the type of venue.  The budget for the whole wedding we are looking at 10-15K, so for the venue probably like 6-8K so that we have some breathing room for other expenses.

BTW congrats on getting married!  Saw the news clip.  So glad everything turned out well for you!

  • Thanks. How many people are you looking to have?

  • Probably between 100-135.

  • If you're having 135 people with an $8000 budget that about $60 pp with taxes and tip.  A traditional venue may be difficult to find at that price range.  Try restaurants with private rooms or places that let you bring in your own caterer.

  • since you're on a budget for a large number of people maybe you should consider hiring a wedding planner who normally does budget weddings on a dialy basis. that way they already have established connections and know all the affordable places that still offer good service.we recently hired elite(b)events and she specializes in elegant unique weddings on a budget. so far she is great to work with, has great reviews, very knowledgeable, very professional, and the best part is she specializes in budget weddings! check her out she may be able to help you.

    good luck!
  • Vanity Fare in Lakewood is within your budget.  Our wedding is on March 31, and we are paying about $64 pp- it's the smaller of the two packages but there is still a ton of food.
  • A friend of a friend is having her wedding at the Bethwood for approx. $60 pp because her date is Sat. Dec. 22, Christmas week. That may be an option for you.
  • Also try some hotels.  I know the Ramada in Toms River (Prob considered south jersey though) is 65 pp.  You can also look at venues during specific times of the year.  For example, I know my venue (Bridgewater Manor) has a winter wedding package that including tax and gratuity is 65 pp

  • You can usually get great deals on off-season dates, like January, and day-time Sunday or Friday weddings. If your entire budget is 10-15k, why not cut back some on other expenses, like flowers--instead of having floral centerpieces make some yourself. Invitations-DIY, etc.
There are lots of things you can cut back on when planning your wedding, it just depends on what's important to you and what's not so important.

  • Ditto to oxlixo. I'm going with The Empire Club in Little Ferry. I'm at slightly more than your budget, but we did a Saturday. We limited alcohol to beer/wine/champagne & are doing buffet. I know that it would've been much less if we took a Friday or Sunday. Go there and see what you can work out. They are very flexible and willing to work in your budget.
  • We actually do want a January or March wedding so I know that will help and I'm not a flower person so I know that also helps.  The Bethwood is actually on my list of places to look at.

Thanks for all your suggestions ladies!  Much appreciated!!

  • we are getting married at the windsor ballroom in east windsor and the prices are amazing, our wedding is in peak wedding season so we are paying a little bit more, but the amount of things you get is unbelievable. there are actually i think like 6 hotels that are all connected so if you don't like one ballroom you can check out the next. just check out the menus, they are awesome
  • LauraShawnWed I am getting marriend at the Windsor Ballroom too
    Here are their current prices

    Hey

I booked my wedding at the Windsor Ballroom in East Windsor and got an email from them as well as from the knot about the amazing savings that they, as well as all of the other hotels unlimited are having.

Book wedding dates through 3/31/13 for $45-$59 pp

Book all 2013 wedding dates for 2012 prices

Book all 2014 wedding dates for 2013 prices

Great savings and I have to say that the Windsor Ballroom is amazing. You get so much food the dance floor is huge and they have a great area for cocktail hour. If you book with them say you were referred by Kara and Keith our wedding is July 13, 2013. When you say that you were referred by someone we BOTH get discounts. Let me know if you have questions and Good Luck.
