Maid of Honor or Matron of Honor??

I have chosen my sister, who is married, to be my Matron of Honor for my wedding. I have been shopping for gifts for the bridal party, but am unable to find anything with Matron of Honor - everything says Maid of Honor!! So this leaves me wondering does ANYONE use the Matron of Honor title anymore or am I just being old-fashioned?? Does everyone just go with Maid of Honor regardless now??

  • I've found a couple of things that say "Matron of Honor", but you're right, you have to search a LOT harder. Check out zazzle.com, they had some of the Matron of Honor stuff I found.

cafepress.com also has some cute stuff.

  • No, you are correct. Matron of Honor is the proper title for someone who is married.

You don't have to get her something that says her title in the WP. If you do want to get her something personalized or special, you might try buying her something and then having it engraved at a place such as Things Remembered.

Shop for her and the rest of your BM's like it was their birthday. What are their hobbies or interests?
  • I have a Matron Of Honor as well and I am giving her a beach bag with her name engraved and not her wedding party title. It will be a beach bag, flip flops, and a beach towel

  • Personally, I would rather receive something that says my name or initial(s), and not my WP title

  • You could always have stuff made yourself.  Buy a bag and find someone who does emboidery to embroider Matron of Honor to it.

I am having both a Maid of Honor and a Matron of Honor.  Both are my best friends, one is newly married.

  • I've seen those rhinestone pins that you can get with the WP titles on them (Bridesmaid, etc) & I would like to get one of those for everyone, but I can't find a Matron of Honor. Yes, I'm going to skip the whole engraved tote bag thing because I know no one in my WP will use that. So I thought one of those small pins, something they can have just to keep on their dresser or whatever, would be nice, but like I said, all I'm finding is Maid of Honor for that one. That's what led me to this whole thing of not being able to find gifts related to the Matron of Honor.

To be quite honest with you, I think getting those pins for something other than a bachelorette party is a waste of money.  They won't wear them afterwards (maybe while they get ready on the wedding day but that's it).  I would save those $$ and put it towards something else.  I agree though, the words "matron of honor" are very difficult to come by.  If you really want to get the pins is there any way that maybe you can get them customized?
