No reason at all

He just made me happy and reminds me of my dog.

ETA: Not my dog.  Just a cutie someone emailed me :)

Re: No reason at all

  • You have a weiner dog too? There's a freaking weiner epidemic on SB.

  • Wieners, wieners, everywhere.

  • Too cute! And yeah, what it it with all the wiener dogs? I don't have anything against them, I'm just a big dog person, so I hang out with big dog people. Are dachshunds really such a popular breed, or is this just a funny SB microcosm?

  • Omg that is adorable :)

I will never own a dog smaller than 30 pounds, but do find them incredibly adorable. The vet I used to work with would bring in his weiner dog who had a merle coloring. He was the bomb.
  • Yay for weiners--all kinds :P.

Jas, this is my dog.  He's a doxie/beagle mix. I AW him a lot, so you've probably seen his mug a time or two dozen.

I don't know, but it is pretty weird.  Although, who has dachshunds besides Aprove?  No one that I know IRL has one, but I see them all over.  They make good apartment dogs.

I love big dogs, too.  I grew up with a beautiful, sweet black Lab and he was one of the best animals ever.
  • np- I had no idea that was your wiener-beagle mix. I swear in the taco bell picture he looks like a really young puppy. It's the big soulful eyes he flashed the camera, as he sucks down on the soda!

  • Pas- He's cute!

Personally, I'm a bit weirded out by long-bodied short legged dogs. It seems like getting around would be awkward.
    But shhh! Don't tell Aprove!

The one in the first picture isn't mine, Petra.  Someone sent that pic to me.  The second one, on the computer, is mine :).

Thanks, Jas.   Doxies do sometimes have trouble getting around because people let them become obsese and their stomachs drag on the ground.  In theory, it's kind of funny, but it's sad for the dogs.  We're lucky with Baxter.  The vet says he's a perfect weight and we don't really have to monitor his food intake.  He's just active.  I think the mixed breed thing works in his favor, as well.
  • Okay everyone, show us your weiners!

Reddy, I have to check that out!  I love French films (I teach Film Studies, so I'm an addict), but I never heard of that one.

  • You bet those are border collies!
The big one (Taz..love him..he was "my" dog when I lived at the farm) is about 10 years old, part border collie, part collie.  He's huge.
Small one (Frankie) he was just born in Feb/Mar I believe, is Border Collie mixed with Husky (hence the super blue eyes, and the name Frankie!), and Shepard I believe.
I love them.  But Frankie just destroyed my fave pair of shoes last weekend.  But how do you stay mad at that face too long...
  • Tiff- I was wondering if he was part husky... gotta love those husky mixes :)

  • aww steph I love your pics...so happy!!!
