Weekend Activities

What was everyone up to this weekend? Do any fun WR or non-WR activities?

FI came to Michigan to visit me since I've been working here for the past couple of weeks now. But I get to leave on Friday to start getting ready for the wedding! We obviously did a lot of non-WR activiites (like mini-golf!) but we also finally picked cake flavors. I am so in love with our cake and I can't wait to see it in person! He also confessed he's getting slightly freaked out feeling. Nothing serious, but he's just realizing what a huge commitment this is! Did anyone else's FI go through this?

This weekend I worked on INVITATIONS, INVITATIONS, INVITATIONS and I'm still not finished! My FI has been great and done a lot of the stuff with me. We had both our parents and my little sister helping us. We are hoping to get them all out next weekend. My wedding is 10.16.10.

My FI said a few ago, that he's past being overwhelmed at this point. With 2 months left to we are coming down to the homestretch! I can't wait for the big day. My FI has even said himself, I'm not sure what we are going to do after the wedding is over and we have all this freetime on our hands. LOL He's been great this entire time about helping with things. His favorite part was probably getting the cake, although mine was probably the flowers.

I had my bridal shower on Saturday.  It was a lot of fun and we got some really awesome gifts.  The best part was that my friends hosting the shower surprised me with a surprise guest!  A friend from grad school who I hadn't seen in a year came, drove 5 hours from Iowa City and then had to drive 5 hours back all in one day to be there for the shower.  It was great.

also took Friday off for a date day.  We went to Blanc Burgers (YUMMY) and Glace (YUMMY YUMMY) and then went to a movie.

Sunday we stayed in PJs and watched TV, totally relaxed.

Kwagner- what flavor did you choose?  I love cake!

Jen- hang in there!  Invitations are tedious, but it feels sooo good when you finally mail them out.

Nichole- that's so awesome your friend surprised you!  My sister came to my first shower (she lives in TN and told me she couldn't make it), and it was the best surprise ever.  Glad it was so great for you!  And Glace is one of my favorite places in KC.  I'm hungry for something sweet now!

We spent a lot of the weekend finally getting stuff organized.  All of our stuff that we didn't even know what to do with after the wedding landed in our basement, and we've been putting it off forever.  Finally got to it and got a lot done!

I had my shower on Satruday too - it was a lot of fun and we got some great  gifts - now I'm just trying to find a spot for the all.  My mom and one of my sister's flew into town for the shower so it was really nice.   We also ordered napkins for the dinner, and day after brunch and the BM's gifts.  Overall fairly productive.
Spent Sunday running errands and then we had our marriage prep class.

My FI is staying pretty level headed (so far) and is offering to help out with a lot of the DIY projects which is nice, I think he realized we are under the 2 month mark :)

Whitney - our cake is an alcoholic's dream! The groom's cake is just white with chocolate filling and vanilla buttercream frosting. But the main cake has 4 tiers: ours is dark chocolate fudge with raspberry filling, the biggest tier is dark chocolate fudge with raspberry filling and choclate ganache, then there's a tier with marble cake and peppermint Schnapp's buttercream filling, and the last tier is marble cake with Kahlua buttercream filling. The kicker is that the whole cake is covered in amaretto buttercream! This is honestly the part that I'm most excited for now and the cake lady is even providing a to-go box so I can take a slice of each kind home!
