El Caribe in Brooklyn

Just wondering if anyone has attended a wedding here.  I think we may be able to get a great package and it may be worth it even if it is not EXACTLY what I had in mind...
Any input is appreciated!

I attended a wedding there a few years back. The food was really good and they have a great reputation- it's also very expensive from what I hear. Why is it not exactly what you have in mind?

My fiance's family has a connection there so they could set us up with a nice package at a decent price.  It's not exactly what I had in mind because I was hoping to find a venue that was somewhat less traditional than the generic catering hall.  I've come to realize that everything in NYC is so expensive that I may have to be more flexible...

I would take a look at the number of people you are having and the package your Fiance's family is getting. You may actually be able to find something less traditional at the same price. I see you're getting married summer of 2012 so you're not in a rush yet to secure a place.

Same as PP. I went to a wedding there a few years back and it was very nice, the food was great. But my friends also paid an arm and a leg and  they were also given a discount due to being family friends with the owners.

Side note: if you have ever watched MTV's True Life I'm Getting Married, Charlie and Sabrina had their reception there. What you saw on the show (all the food, sparklers, etc) is how it is.

I had my wedding there almost 3 years ago (sigh, how time flies) and people are still talking about it.
We added the viennese hour and it was like $185pp, which is insane. They proved to be worth every penny though.  It was awesome, the service was fantastic, the food was delicious, it was just perfect. We were in the smaller room with like 180 people but I wouldn't have even known there was another wedding going on in the huge room.
I keep trying to convince people to get married there so I can experience it from a guests POV.  I highly recommend the El Caribe.

If you have any questions, feel free to page me.

i went to a wedding there and it was hands down the best wedding I've ever been to.  But the family was super rich, had mega connections in the place, and STILL spent an arm and a leg....for over 500 guests (they had the whole venue to themselves, and used BOTH rooms).
