Any brides purchase their dress from Pearls Place?

I am thinking about purchasing my dress from Pearls Place however the customer service is not all that great. Now I did try on dresses at Bustles n Bows and they were awesome, but I did not like their selection of dresses. Anyone have any opinions?

If you find THE dress at Pearl's then buy it. But I would have someone else do the alterations. Even though alterations are included in the price, the hassle of having to go and wait isn't worth it. That's the worse part about pearl's place: the alterations process!

Pearls Place and Linda Lee are the worst wedding boutiques!  Not only does customer service SUCK but the alterations departments at both are TERRIBLE!  They have ruined dresses for 2 different weddings that I stood in.  Linda Lee ruined my sister's dress so badly that she couldn't even stand in the wedding because the dress didnt fit (she didn't gain 20 lbs in 2 weeks).  My experienes with Bustles & Bows have been the complete opposite.  The staff is wonderful and Elvia, their alterations person, is great!  I didn't get my dress there but we did get the bridesmaids and MOB's dresses.  My friend got her wedding gown there too and they have always been great.  If you don't mind going uptown, Wedding Belles is fabulous.  That's where I got my dress.  The alterations are NOT included in the price at Wedding Belles or Bustles & Bows but the differences in the customer service and quality of the alterations (even if you have to pay a bit more) are worth it!

I actually went to Linda Lee last weekend to try on a dress because the bridesmaids dress that I'd chosen was not in stock at Pearls nor Bustles. My BM was able to try on the dress, but the customer service was awful. The rep walked away leaving myself and FMIL to tighten the dress, so we went back to Pearls to order the dress.  I agree Saturdays are the worst days. However, I am getting mixed reviews about Pearls. Some people really like it, and others really hate it, there is no in between.
    Thanks for your input.

I took a peek at this board as I am moving back to NOLA finally.  So I was a Pearl's Place bride some time ago.  Have also been in weddings from there ordered online.  I think the store is great and very professional.  They are certainly better than any store where I lived for years - Houston.  So this is my little bit.  Great to be back in this city and just want to say the feeling in New Orleans is so much better than the day I left.  Great place.

Customer service at Pearl's Place is not great...they rush you out of there when trying on dresses. They altered my bridesmaid dress too small so I had to bring it somewhere else to get the alterations fixed. I do not suggest Pearl's Place at all! I am going to Town and Country to look for dresses this weekend and there is also a brand new bridal boutique opening on Severn on June 1.

I went twice to try on dresses and both times I had great customer service. The first time I went was a Thursday morning and barely anyone else was in there shopping. The next time I went was on a Saturday, put my name on the list and was helped 30 minutes later. As I waited, several employees asked if I needed anything while I browsed around waiting. Several people told me horror stories of this place, but since I had no problems with customer service, I decided to just go with it. I loved the dress and didn't feel like shopping around, falling in love with more dresses and having a hard time deciding which one to pick. I wanted to get my dress ordered immediately.

However, I am undecided if I will get my dress alterations at Pearls Place or Golden Needle in Baton Rouge. I have heard amazing stories of Golden Needle on Florida Blvd (Danny) and that he is very reasonable. It all comes down to how much work needs to be done with my dress.

I went to Pearls recently to look for both my dress and a bridesmaids dress and it was a horrible experience. I have been there before and had NO problems though, so maybe it was the consultant that I had and when I went, but I went during the week. They tried to sell me a dress with a fancy ruffled bottom that was too short on me and didn't come in extra length by telling me that they could add a strip of fabric to the bottom, good thing I didn't take the risk and the alterations lady came to talk with me. The dress was also out of my price range, which I told her right before she brought me the dress and she did not listen to anything that I wanted in a dress.

I went to Linda Lee and I had great customer service, yes they let me look on my own, which I liked, I dressed by myself, but the consultant was there to zip my into the dress and help me with what I needed. I also went back there for my BM dresses, but they didn't have what I wanted. I went to Bustles and Bows and they were SO sweet. Both stores had NO ONE in them when I went. I was the only one in both stores. I don't have experience with the alterations yet, so we will see.

I had a bad experience last week at Pearl's Place and actually walked out.  I went with my MOH to look for dresses for her and myself.  After helping me into a couple of dresses the consultant announced that she was getting off of work but would send another consultant to take care of me.

I was ok with that,  But after about 20 minutes I started wondering where the other consultant was.  When I asked the girl behind the desk she said the consultant had not arranged for anyone to take over for her and that everyone was busy.  Well this was a Thursday afternoon and there was one other person in the store.  So its not like I went on a busy Saturday afternoon.

I walked out and went one block over to Bustles and Bows and ordered my dress that day. The girl Ann at Bustle and Bows is fantastic and very friendly.  She does not try to push you into a decision at all.  She lets you make your own decisions but will give her opinion if you ask her for it.

I vote for Bustles and Bows.  I have had some people tell me that they had a great experience at Pearl's Place but after last week I am not willing to take the risk

Also if you find a dress you like at another shop, try and get the designer and style number.  Bustle and Bows may be able to order it for you even if they dont have a sample of that dress.

Pearl's Place was great for ma and I did not any other local stores at all.  They are busy at times and all I can say is that we had not one problem with alterations.  I was not impressed with Bustles and Bows and yes there is a new store opening but do they have the experience in bridal as yet.  Like restaurants I think you have to let them get their feet wet.

I have a further to my PP on this subject.  My Sister ordered a gown from Linda Lee and after 7 months and many phone calls, they called her and told her the gown was discontinued.  We then went to Pearl's Place and found out that Linda Lee could not get the gown for some reason and in less than a week Pearl's was able to get it.  Linda Lee we not truthful.  Just wanted to say this and great to be back in this area.

Thus far I havent had any real problems with them when I go other than the fact that they would not let me know the designer and style number of the dress I chose until I put down a deposit, whereas, Bustles does. That didn't sit right with me! This is a large amount of money I am spending and should know what Im paying for before I spend my money. However, after extensive online research I came across the designer and style of my dress on my own, and because no other bridal store carries that dress, I will be buying it from Pearls.
My cousin purchased all of her dresses from Pearls and was happy with the service, but everytime I tell someone where I found my dress they have something negative to say which is the reason why I am concerned about what I am possibly about to get myself into.

At the end of the day, if this is the dress you want and love then go for it!  Once you purchase your dress, most people will be more concern about the designer than where you got it.  Also, since you have some ideas on Pearl's Place, you know what you are walking in to.  Therefore, you are more prepared for the bad customer service.  I, personally, like to know what I am getting myself into, more so than being blindsided by it.  Good Luck!

Absolutely agree! Now that I am aware of alteration issues with some, I can now ask questions about it and be on the alert. But, it looks like Pearls will be the place I order my dress from. Afterall, despite all the negative remarks, whenever I go, there's always a line of people so they must be doing something right. LOL!

I think that there will never be 100% positive feedback with any store that you choose.

You can't let one person's bad experience stop you, if we did no one would ever shop at Wal Mart or any grocery store. It is what it is.

Customer Service. They can't please everyone.

I went to Pearls place and ended up leaving. I went in for my appointment and after about 15minutes of waiting to be acknowledged, the woman looked me straight in the face and said that I couldn't have an appointment becausenthey don't take appointments. (with a very nasty look on her face) As me my mom and my friend were leaving we heard another bride tell the sales lady that she didnt care for the bow on the side of one of the dresses, the sales person told the bride in a mean tone "well the dress come with the bow" and just walked away. I bought my dress from Bustles and Bows. I agree that their selection was not huge but I found that it was big enough and unlike PP the dresses were easy for me to look through.
