I NEED YOUR OPINIONS - Please

For the  of keeping this honest, I don't want to give my studio name.

Here is what I would like -  your opinion:

Would you feel like your photographer is more professional if your meeting were at his office, or at his home?

Would it make a difference to you?

Where did you meet your photographer.

Thanks in advance. I have a pretty successful  photography business but am curious if leasing office space is unnecassary or if it would take things to the next level.

My photographer came to my home and is coming back to do the album.  I loved the fact that she came to me (less running around for me).  She did a fabulous job.  Everyone loves my pictures; they're very creative but "traditional."  In a word, she was very professional and works out of her home.  In retrospect, I really don't think I wanted the photographer with the "studio."  Incidentally, my guests also loved her.  I am guessing that because she works out of her home, I am getting more for less money - never a problem for me.

I wouldn't be against having someone come to my home, like PP said, but I would be uncomfortable going to a stranger's home.  I think it's fine if you don't rent a studio, but I would not be willing to pay you the same prices as someone with an established business and a storefront. It's not that I wouldn't use someone who was less 'professional' if I still loved their portfolio and got along with them, but I would expect lower prices.

A wedding photographer will work more onsite and do the diting in the privacy of their home or home office.
I agree completely with either meeting a photographer over coffee or a 'trial' shoot to see if their style is the style you shoot. Leasing office space and furnishing it professionaly and to also match your type of photographer will be pricey. And then you get into the whole issue of decorating which will take away from being able to set up sessions.

    Best of luck!
