Average rates for a quartet for cocktail hour

Hi 

I was wondering if anyone has hired a quartet and could tell me what the going rate is. We have hired a family friend and her rate is $1000. for the cocktail hour and to play a before the ceremony. Is this high ? I'm not sure. We are pretty much locked in at this point.

    For 4 musicians, I don't think that is super high.  It sounds about right to me :-)

    Depends, but when I was looking for music, I found quartets for under $1k - I went with a trio to save a bit more money as the sound is still pretty good.  But if you are already committed, there's nothing you can do now.

    Correction - the time/rate I saw was for one hour; so if your quartet is playing a full hour for cocktails and then added time for the ceremony, then it's really about the same going rate...

    We went with a trio and it was $650 so maybe it is a little high but sounds like you are committed.
