STD Proof...How does it look? (Edited to add second design)

You guys know I'm working with a kooky theme, so would you be intrigued if you got a STD like this, or turned off? Most of our friends and family wouldn't be surprised, but I want to make sure that the wedding element still comes through. I'm only carrying out this 'theme' in the paper and small decor elements, so it's not going to be everywhere, if that makes sense.

I'm not using pics of us since we're not planning on taking formal engagement pics, so I'm toying around on vistaprint using an image that matches our invitations. These would be postcards. Do they look okay?

Here's another version with some scrollwork that I like:

ETA: For reference, our invitations look like this:

Re: STD Proof...How does it look? (Edited to add second design)

  • I would wonder what the "322" in the image was supposed to mean, but I'd "get it" for the overall feel :)
  • LOL I don't even know what it means. It's something pirate-y.
  • I like your theme, but in terms of the STD I would leave off the skull. I think the Old English font and perhaps adding some iron scrollwork clip art would get your theme across. The skull looks a little out of place.
  • ummm not "wedding" at all, but that's just my opinion
    image
  • I'll toy around with VP some more! :)
  • I would get the overall feel, and if your family knows you then the skull likely wouldn't put them off, but I would also be royally confused by the 322 lol
  • I like the second design a lot! Last suggestion is to put the art deco design on both bottom sides so that then the wording is centered!

Heres the thing.... This is your wedding, and if this is the theme that you like, then go with it. The STD you designed looks great. Like the PP said, the numbers are a little confusing, but the overall feel is unique. I  like the version with the scrollwork also. But please, IMHO, dont change what YOU want because youre worried that guests might think its wierd. Quirky and unique is what makes you awesome. :)

  • I really like the second design that you added.  But like PP said, don't change something because of what others say/think.  Do what makes you & FI happy- it's YOUR wedding!!
  • I agree with the others, as I said above, I think it looks great and if it fits your theme, go with the skull (although I think I'd find one that doesn't have the confusing numbers hahaha)

Remember that you don't have to fit into everyone else's idea of a wedding, this is your wedding. Your loved ones are attending, the people who know you best.... make it your own :)

  • I'm in the minority.  I like the scull and dislike the scroll.
  • i agree with ekk.  and the skull goes with the invite.   Its not my taste but I think if I were you, I'd go with the skull.

  • I like the one with the skull because it matches your invites. However, I'd make the skull a little smaller (like how you have it on the invites), and if possible I'd edit out the 322 if it means nothing.
    Anniversary
  • I like them both because they're not your typical Save The Dates, but if I had to choose, I'd pick the second design.

  • Honestly, I LOVE the second one, but that's because I love scrolls on stationary and such and it's very art deco. I love your invitation too! I think it's very classy looking! So, I agree with other PP's that the one with the skull is very you though and would go well with your invite. My thought is to do a simple skull and bones in black, the exact opposite of your white skull and bones on the invite. I think that would give it a clearner look. Also, if you don't know what 322 means, no offense, but you probably shouldn't be putting it on stationary to people! Try playing around with the skull a bit to see if it sits better in just a clean black.

Ahhh! This one is perfect! It matches the stamp I bought on Etsy perfectly!

And thanks for the feedback everyone! I like the idea of doing a cleaner design to be opposite of the invitations. I don't mind playing around on VP! ;)
