Make up normal?

Hi Ladies,

I am paying for hair/make up for the girls in the WP. I met with the salon and they are coming to us the day of. The lead artist/owner gave me a client services form for them to fill out in advance, which I thought might be more of a waiver from a legal perspective but it is really just questions about their hair and skin type. It's a hard copy form, so they need to give back a printed copy. I gave the salon owner a list of the girls and the length/thickness of their hair about a month ago so she could make a day of timeline. I had to make a small change to the timeline and flip the order that two girls were being styled. To make that change, the owner now wants an inspiration picture for each girl. Am I crazy or is this a bit much? All of the girls are wearing their half up or fully down. Only two have long hair to begin with. I have just found this salon a bit hard to work with because they seem more interested in process and paperwork than service. End rant!

Re: Make up normal?

  • That does seem a little strange.  My salon asked nothing of my girls except their name.

  • i think the salon is being smart! they have a business to run and their main goal is to give  the clients what they want in hopes that you will recommend them.they probably want to know as much as possible about the girls so that they can be the most efficient on your wedding day (nothing like being delayed becuase of a hair issue!).

i think bringing in inspiration pix is a good idea.
  • It seems a little much but it should help them be more prepared. Especially if they are doing weddings nearly every weekend and have a lot of brides and bridal parties to keep straight. Can you find one half up style and one down style and tell them that your bridesmaids will choose between those two options? Then they can see what you want without you providing a pic from each girl.
  • That's a really good suggestion! I hadn't considered offering two styles like that, thanks!

  • That's very odd. It almost seems like you're doing half their job for them. My salon only wanted names so they could book the appointments accordingly.

MY MUA asked for their names and general skin description (ie. fair, acne-prone, etc) so she could do her best guess for how long it would take.

  • My hairdresser is also coming to us the day of the wedding.  She didn't ask for inspiration pics but she did ask for an idea of what each girl wanted to get done so she could give me an idea of how long each would take.  It sort of makes sense that the amount of time needed is going to depend on what each one is getting done.  I feel like that would be even more important if it's just one person and they're coming to you so they have no back up at the salon, etc.
