Honeymoon in Disney?

I need some advice.. We're trying to plan our honeymoon (not booking it yet, as it's not til October 2011)..
But I would LOVE to go to Disneyland or Disneyworld.
My fiance wants to go somewhere tropical and all inclusive. I don't know what to do, because he's been to both, and I've never been to Disney, but I've always been dying to go

Is it an appropriate honeymoon spot? Or am I just a big kid? haha.

Re: Honeymoon in Disney?

  • We are going to Disneyland for part of our honeymoon.  I've heard several people honeymoon in either Disney.  Even though we've been several times, we're very excited about it because this will be our first stay at a park hotel (Disneyland hotel).  It really just depends on your personality and what you want out of your honeymoon.  We are also going to SF and Napa, maybe you could include somewhere beach oriented for yours since both are in states that have beaches.

  • It's definitely appropriate, but I think you should do something that you both want to do! Something that is a compromise. I think the Disney Cruise would be something like that, but it isn't like Disney Theme parks. In my opinion, Disney is NOT really a relaxing Honeymoon. Disney is work!
  • Ditto PP. Definitely compromise. Could you go to Disneyland in Florida (or whichever Disney is in Florida. I've never been to either! haha) for a couple days and then take a cruise? I know that there are a ton of cruises that leave out of Florida. I would sit down with your FI and write down everything you both feel you want to get out of your Honeymoon and then make a compromise. I'm sure you can both get what you love. HTH! GL! =]
  • Have you thought about Disney cruises?  You can get land & sea packages where you can go to Disney world for the first part of your vacation, then cruise for the second half (or vice-versa).  You can book it all online, that way you can have the best of both worlds!

  • the question isn't if it's an appropriate HM spot or not-that's entirely up to you! the question is if you can come to some sort of compromise such as: tropical AI for HM now, for 5 year anniversary disney.
or you can do both! a few nights in disney then fly down to an AI for another few nights-depending on how much time you have for HM.

  • II'm doing an AI, a cruise and 4 days in Disney World, since our cruise lands in Ft. Lauderdale (aprox. 3 hours from Orlando). You can check some cruise deals, there are very well priced cruises and packages online.

    Good luck!

  • Awesome advice girls!
I liked that you pointed out that it would be alot of work.. haha I'm a pretty lazy chick.. Hmmm..
I DO love Disney (Fiance does too, he loves Disneyland too.. but he'd rather drink all day on the beach).

I think we'll do a brainstorm and see what we come up with!

    Thanks!!

  • As a Disney lover, I wouldn't be opposed to going there.  It all depends on what you and your FI would enjoy the most!  Good luck

My fiance and I were debating this exact same thing!  We just decided last weekend that we are going to one of the Sandals in Jamaica.  I've been to Disney World in the past a couple times and loved it and he has never been.  We decided to go somewhere neither of us have experienced.  We also figured that in the future we are much less likely to go on a vacation by ourselves to a tropical all inclusive so we decided to do this when the time is right.  That being said, we plan to go to Disney World to celebrate our one year anniversary/my graduation from med school.  Enjoy whatever you decide to do!

  • its totally up to you and it comes down to what your "dream honeymoon" is.  to me...going to disney would be a NIGHTMARE.  crowds and kids everywhere sounds like a honeymoon in hell to me.
but if this is your dream honeymoon, then go for it!
  • Check out cruises that leave from Port Canaveral, it's a quick trip from Orlando. I've done a few Bahamas cruises from there for 3-4 days. You could spend the rest of your time at Disney! :)

  • We had friends who did Disney for their HM and loved it, but it's a tradition in their family to go every year or two, so it's their 'thing." I agree on compromising and thinking long and hard about what you want out of your HM. For awhile, I thought I might want to do that and then realized that after finally being able to relax after months of wedding planning, all I wanted was to lay on a beach. But if you're up for a high energy HM, go for it!

  • I grew up in Orlando and love Disney World. I wouldn't do it for my HM, but probably because I've already been so much. I think the park cruise combo sounds like a really great idea. I know Disney will even provide all of your transportation between the airport, hotels, and the port. Also, the weather is usually really nice in Orlando in October. Around 80 degrees and sunny. I also think that the Epcot food and wine festival is in October so that would be a more "grown up" Disney activity.
