Help and recommendations for florists in the city please!

For the wedding, I want flowers that are...well, just lovely.  Not too lavish, not too simple...breathtaking blooms that are lovely.  I probably don't need much as all I expect to order is my bouquet, BM bouquets, flowers for the guys and some small arrangements for tables.

Up to this point I was planning on DYI'g but now I think I want a professional to handle the floral arrangements.  With that said, the wedding is 9/18 and I have yet to contact a florist (hopefully I'm not to late as I know they book up) because...1 - I need recommendations on who's who in the city (not the burbs) for wedding flowers that are affordable but not cheap, 2 - I'm not sure what questions to ask when meeting and discussing a vision with a florist and 3 - I'm uncertain on how much I should expect to spend.

Based on your experience who would you recommend, what questions did you ask and information did you cover when meeting with the florist and how much should I expect to spend?

I used Jenny from Scarlet Petal and loooovvvveedd everything about working with her...particularly the end product because my flowers were beauitful.

Go to their website (www.scarletpetal.com) and fill out the consultation request form under contact. It asks you a ton of questions about what you're looking for. Otherwise, the question you need to ask are about delivery on the day of, rental/purchase of vases and cost and how those will be returned if you do rent them.

My friend used Flora on Southport and had good things to say. I can't really comment on price. My florist is Kio Kreations in Naperville, but my wedding is in the city.

I think once you meet with one florist you will get the idea of how it goes. They will show you pictures of flowers and bouquets and you can show them what you like. They will ask a bunch of questions about what your tastes are, it is pretty easy once you are there.

Meet with a few so you can see different styles and find someone's style you like

While planning I reached out to a number of people.  All of the vendors below were very nice and came up with wonderful arrangements that were within my budget.  That said, I actually booked with Richard Remiard as I liked their modern designs the best.

We went to Costco in Lincoln Park last weekend and spoke with Patrick who owns the floral area (independent contractor).  We were BLOWN AWAY by his prices!

He has garden bunches for $8.99, Mixed Floral Bouquests for $14.99 (they are so huge you can use them for 2 arrangements, and 24 count rose bouquests for $15.99.  6 stems of Calla Lillies are $8.99.

He said he can order in specific colors for you.  He doesn't arrange them, but can suggest a guy from the Oakbrook Costco who does if you need someone to do that.

This guy is super nice and I highly recommend him!  His phone number is 773-988-2386.

On yelp, I found Kloeckner Preferred Flowers from a bride who was budget conscious and did her research to get everything she wanted for the right price.

If you look them up on yelp, you'll see her great review. I looked them up online and the flowers arrangements are breathtaking. They are on my list of vendors to call.

Ray's Posey Patch is amazing.  My friend works there and I will be using them for my wedding.  Great prices and he gives you exactly what he says he will.

I with you on the DIY on florals.  I also looked into doing the florals myself and realized that I just don't have the time or creative knowledge to put a great arrangement together.  Here are some great florists I have been looking into:

    Blumgarten
    Pollen
    Dilly Lilly
    Kehoe
    Blumen

    Good luck!!
