garrison bespoke custom suit

just a little review. my FI wanted to wear a suit for the wedding not rent a tux but he had the hardest time finding a suit that fit him well and that he liked. he bought a suit a few years ago at moores and ended up hating the cut. he wanted something very slim fit that he would love to wear. our budget was $800-1000. we went to gotstyle, simon carter, and some other stores on queen and tried on suits between $650-$1250. but we encountered problems with sizing. because jackets and pants are sold together and not separately, for his body he would've had to order a larger size suit and then he'd have to get the jacket altered down and the pants altered larger slightly. it just all seemed ridiculous. and he just couldn't find the colour that he had in mind which was a particular blue grey. as well we had a friend that bought a suit online at jcrew last year for his wedding but then ended up spending over half the price of the suit in alterations at harry rosen.

his hair stylist recommended garrison bespoke in the st. lawrence area as they make custom suits. as well i work across the street and pass by their store everyday and just loved the styling in the windows. all their suits are very mad men vintage style. we made an appointment to meet with them but had a lot of reservations. we thought there was no way we could afford a custom suit. we thought the appointment might just be a big waste of time but thought let's just talk to them because we were unhappy with the selection we've seen off the rack so far. we were super surprised. an entry level suit there is $1100 straight up. just a little bit over our budget. so we went for it. they had a ton of swatches of gorgeous fabrics at that price range. it took about 5 weeks to get the initial suit made for his first fitting. then it took another week for alterations. he picked up his suit yesterday and it is beyond gorgeous! it fits him like a glove and he couldn't be happier with it. the little bit extra we had to pay for a custom suit was well worth the money. as well the customer service and style advice he got there was amazing.

if your FI is looking for a really nice suit i would look no where else then garrisons. i think more people don't do this because they think getting a custom suit is really expensive but in comparison to other high end off the rack suits the price difference really isn't much.

Thank you for sharing this! My fiance will also be wearing a custom suit. To me, it just makes more sense than a rental tux. Rental tuxes are often low quality and ill-fitting (because they are not tailored specifically for the wearer, other than the length of the arms and legs). If I am spending a lot of money on a perfectly tailored wedding gown, why can't my groom have the same? The fit and look of a custom suit is far superior to an off-the-rack suit or a rental tux. Also, a custom suit is an investment piece that will last for years to come and can be worn to many events.

I will definitely check out Garrison. So far, I we have planned to have a consultation with Holt Renfrew which has a "Made to Measure" men's program in which you can purchase custom suits by a variety of designers (ie Armani, Canali).
