Help with ideas...? new to this!

I've only ever been to one wedding; most of the people in my family have just gotten married in a courthouse or a "quickie" wedding in Vegas but I need help with maybe some ideas and feedback? I'm newly engaged and my fiance and I were throwing ideas around about our theme for the wedding-- He loves the beach and I love stargazing and we thought it'd be fun to combine them somehow.....is it too much to have an indoor Sands and Stargazing night theme? We were looking at getting married in San Francisco somewhere indoors. Any ideas for decorations?  We're both very relaxed people when it comes to events. I was thinking of my colors being like a navy blue, plum and silver. I'm not very creative myself so I need some help please!!

    You are definitely over thinking this.  Most weddings do not have "themes".  This is not a high-school prom.  If you want navy, plum, and silver for your colors that sounds pretty.  It sounds like beach decorations with maybe silver lights everywhere would support your vision as well.  Don't worry, this website is great for ideas so just keep browsing and don't worry so much about your "theme".

    I disagree bril.  A popular "theme" right now is vintage.  Hop over to that board and tell them that themes are like prom. 

    OP, you do need to slow down and breathe and take a look around.  It will all fall into place.  Congrats!

    I agree that having a vintage wedding is popular right now.  However I think there is a big difference between wanting a vintage wedding and wanting a "stargazing night theme" wedding.

    You can use those colors, and incorporate stars, night time, dusky moonlight.  If you want a nod to the beach, use starfish  :)

    @ Bril-- I don't mean an actual "theme" like a prom i meant small touches to represent both of our passions.

    Oh yeah, there's all kinds of things you can do with "beach" stuff or setting up lighting for your reception.  Some girls on here have come up with some beautiful lighting techniques for their receptions.  The beach theme-d stuff for weddings is really hot too.  You should be able to Google it and find a gazillion ideas.

    I don't know involved you want it to be or what kind of decisions you've made yet, but if it interests you, you can probably get married in your planetarium. I thought it was the coolest thing when I found out (yeah we're big nerds). They said they can also make like a special star show for the couple.
