Help! Save the Date Wording...

I just finished enveloping my cute vintage-postcard save-the-dates, which I used with a make-you-own-custom stamp, saying "Save the Date," and the date, our names and town where the wedding will be held.

Problem is I just realized that I did not include the wording "Formal Invitation to Follow," at the bottom of the stamped message.  Is this important enough that I should open all of my sealed (but not post-marked) envelopes and add that line?

Save the Dates are so common now, that I think everyone realizes that they are a pre-cursor to the actual wedding invitation...but I don't want to start the event off with a huge breach of etiquette... help!

No, you're fine without that line.  If anyone really is confused by it, they will call and ask if that was the invitation, but I doubt that will happen.  Just leave it as is.

I wouldn't mind - I think it's obvious with the wedding date significantly in the future that this isn't the real invitation.  It also lacks some important information - STDs usually don't include address and timing, just the date and city!

nah.. we forgot to put that on ours as well. Everyone pretty much knows what a "save-the-date" is now. IMO the only people that might be confused are the elderly, as that wasn't a trend in their generation (my grandmother called me when she recieved it, slightly confused haha!).

Yay for Save-The-Date time! Before you know it you'll be sending out the invites!
