NWR: Reliable Dog Sitter

I also posted this on the nest but wanted to see if anyone knows a dog sitter in the Essex or Passaic county area. MH and I have a trip coming up and I know we could leave him at the vet (which we've never done) but would feel more comfortable if someone could come over or he could go there.

If you don't get good recommendations here, you may want to call your vet to ask.  We found our cat sitter (who works at the vet but sits on the side) that way.

I agree- what UEG said and also ask your groomer (if you have one)

I have used Doggie Paradise in Wallington. I have not used them in over a year though. I would put the link up but it's blocked from my job. They did require my dog to go to a daycare session just to see how he did at first. They have a doggie cam so you can see them during daytime hours and someone sleeps there overnight just in case of emergencies. They also keep big dogs and small dogs separate and every dog has their own crate to sleep at night.

I boarded my little corgi here by my parents house in Maplewood over the summer. I know they do dog walking services, maybe they do pet sitting too, or can reccomend one: http://www.preferredpetcare.com/

I've boarded my dog at Shaggy Chic in Rutherford, NJ. My parents ususally watch my dog for me but when we all go away she goes to Shaggy Shic and she seems to love it :) This is the website: http://www.shaggychicdoggiebedandbath.com/

Our dog trainer recommended the Morris animal Inn.  It's in Morris, NJ (not Essex), but we went and looked at it and it looks very nice.  We're learning our dog there for the two nights of our wedding.  I would also love to know a dog walker who would come to the house during the day if you find someone!!

I"m also late to this but I know a person (have known for years) who dog & house sits in Morris, Essex & the area: active with local Golden Retriever rescue, pet first -aid certified, etc (& an all-around great lady).

If you'd like her info, you can email me at jtlenis501@yahoo.com
