What's the best processional order?

FI will be walking his mom down the aisle, and my brother, who is also a groomsman, will be escorting my mom. Do the rest of the guys walk down the aisle before or after seating the moms? Or should they just be up front waiting for FI and brother? We're getting married in a small banquet type room, so I don't know if my brother can seat my mom then go to the back of the room inconpicuously and walk down the aisle again. We only have 4 bridesmaids and 4 groomsmen, no flower girl/ring bearer. And ideally I'd like the girls to walk alone. Help!

Re: What's the best processional order?

  • I think you've answered your own question.

The non-processional groomsmen should stand to the side until after your groom has processed and seated his mother.

    1. Brother/GM with mom (he stands to side with other GM)
    2. Groom with mom. Groom takes place at altar and GM join him.
    3. bridesmaids
    4. MOH
    5. Bride
  • Thanks. I just wasn't sure if it would look better to have the guys up front already, or have them actually walk down the aisle. I've seen it both ways, but think I prefer them to already be up there.
  • Ok so say the 3 other groomsmen stay up front. Who would go in first, the groom and his mom, or my brother and my mom?

Mother of the bride is always first.
  • I would have the groom escort his mother first and then your brother would escort your mom and return to the lineup. Your mom and brother should wait until your fi and his mom have reached her seat, before they start down the aisle. That will give the photographer time to get a nice picture of each mom with her escort.

The MOB would be the last person seated before the processional. That is the cue to the musicians to start the processional music.

<div>Actually, the MOB is traditionally the last person seated before the bridesmaids process up the aisle.</div>
