Reception at The Madison? Is the dance floor big enough for 300+ guests?

So I booked my reception in the Grande Ballroom at The Madison in Covington a couple weeks ago. I'm VERY happy with my decision and assigned wedding coordinator (Angie). However, something I didn't think about until speaking with a friend over the weekend...... Is the dance floor big enough for 300+ guests? The dance floor did look kinda smaller now that I think about it, but I never questioned it during my initial meeting with Angie. We have a "dancing" crowd. Is there going to be enough room for my guests to feel comfortable dancing? What has been your experience at The Madison?

Or maybe this is just the paranoid, "Bridezilla" coming out in me...... :)

I think it we be big enough.  We are having a wedding half your size so we didn't book that room, we ended up at the Galleria Ballroom in the Madison South.  I am sure that will be enough room, because everyone most likely will not be dancing at the same time.

Some DJs have said you will need 2.5 to 3 square feet per guest for the dance floor.  At any given time for the average wedding, 30-50% of guests are out on the floor.  Since you said yours is a dancing demographic, I'd increase it to 70%.

Our wedding is at the Madison this weekend. (Omg!) I was also worried about the size of the floor because I have a dancing crowd too but there is room around the floor. So if people really want to dance they'll have to spread out to the carpeted area. We'll see how it goes in 4 days!

That is where I had my reception and it worked out great.  The dance floor was overflowing.  That might sound bad, but it was actually a good thing.  It made it look like more people were up there dancing- in turn- got more people up dancing.  It was much better than a too big of a dance floor.  I've been to those weddings and the floors are way too big and you look like the only one out there when you are dancing.  It discourages people from breaking it down.  I'm sure it will be PERFECT!!!

I love the Madison- I want a re-do so I can do it all over again :)  The staff was AMAZING.  I also have 1 more suggestion.  Towards the end of the night- have them bring out some pizza's.  It was a HUGE hit at our wedding.  People still talk about it.

Sarah! Which ballroom did you have yours in? And how many people?

I'm so glad to hear that the dance floor worked out for you. I'm sure it will work out for me, but I'm just paranoid I guess :)

I would say you have nothing to worry about! A friend of ours just got married there this past November and had about 250, we packed the dance floor but there is always room around the sides on the carpet!

We also have booked our reception there in the grande ballroom and have approx the same amount of guests and we were told it shouldn't be a problem!!! Hope this helps! Good Luck and HAVE FUN!!!!
