July 2012 Weddings

For real?

So our RSVP deadline is today. We still haven't heard from 46 people. Really? Ok, whatever.

I've been talking to this friend and as of last week she said she is "probably" coming, but hasn't sent the RSVP, it's still in her purse. Okay. I text her today asking her if she has sent it in yet and she says she did last week. Ok and this is how it went:

Me: Okay, apparently we didn't get it, are you coming?

Her: Yes

Me: Okay great, what meal did you want to have? Are you bringing a guest?

Her: Yes to guest, just pick whatever meal for me.

Me: Name of guest? What does the guest want to eat?

Her: My friend. Just pick whatever.

Me: We need to know the names and the meal options since we are making escort cards

Her: I'm going to church, I'll text ya later

Huh? She kinda sounded snotty to me, and it kind of feels like she doesn't want to give me her guest's name. I'm just about to type in "______'s Guest" for the escort card. How hard is it to just tell me the name and what meal you want? I don't want to decide for people. Blah.

Re: For real?

  • I'd pick the cheapest meal option for her and her guest.   And to me it sounds like she doesn't have an actual date yet but is hoping to find someone to come with her.  I'd insist on a name from her so she actually commits to it.

  • That is really annoying! What is the point of having an RSVP card with meal options when they are just going to say, "Oh choose whatever for me."  As PP said, I would really try to get a name from her so it isn't just some random person off the street she chooses since per person charges do add up at the end of the day.
  • Yeah. She just said "Guest, Katie idk who I'm bringing so idk". UGH!! Now I'm frustrated.

  • NOBODY told me their guests names - so I'm doing exactly that for table assignments.

  • Oh geez.  I didn't have anyone do this to me thank goodness but if it had happened to me I'd be making her tell me a name and if she can't then no date.  Might be mean but you need a name especially if you're going to commit to buying a meal.

  • Yeah she sounds snotty to me too. I also think she's lying about sending it in a week ago. Why would she tell you to pick her meal for her if she already chose one on the card?

Very frustrating situation. I would just put, "rude girl's guest." Obviously you want to put rude girl's name. Not just rude girl. :-p

  • That's ridiculous I would tell her she needs to give you a guests name and both their meal choices or she gets no guest and the cheapest meal. Some people just don't care enough not to come off as rude to people.

  • bahahaha...'rude girl's guest' definitely sounds fabulous to me!!!!  I agree, cheapest meal...and I would text her back and tell her no guest no name!  but that is because I'm a b* today...
  • I'm too afraid to be a straight out b**** to her! She kind of scares me, hahahaha. I'll just go with "rude girl's guest" :):)
