Need Affordable Church in (or around) Atlanta

We've been looking everywhere for an affordable church to get married in. Our first choice was Peachtree Christian Church (B-E-A-UTIFUL) but reality says that we just can't afford it. We've got 150 guests coming and a budget of $8,000.

Just a note: I might have used a chuck of the budget on the dress already....

Please, if anyone knows of any churches in the area that don't cost an arm and a leg, let's say under $1,500, please let me know as soon as possible. My fiancé and I would greatly appreciate it.

Re: Need Affordable Church in (or around) Atlanta

  • So where are you gonna have your reception?
  • Okay, wait a second. You had an 8K budget for 150 people, in the metro area, which is doable if you are meticulous, but not super easy. And you spent a "chuck" of the budget on your dress??? Do you plan on wearing a designer dress and then hosting your guests in a backyard for punch? We could probably help you better find a venue or church if we knew exactly how much you have left of your budget (I hope it's not $1,500) and what you have left to do. Are you planning on hosting a reception at all?

No offense, but it sounds like you spent most of your money on your attire with little thought to the rest of the aspects of the day, or your guests.

It's really not as bad as it sounds. I spent $1200 on the dress, the photographer is being gifted to us as well as the DJ. We're not serving alcohol at all at the reception. Is, let's say, $5300 not enough for decorations, flowers, catering, cake, etc.?

Also, we're not locked into Atlanta. We've also looked in areas like Roswell and Alpharetta. Ideally we would love a church that would allow us to have the reception there as well, more likely than not for an extra fee.

Take it easy on me. It's not that I don't have a listed budget (I do), I'm just having trouble finding a church that fits within it.

(And I meant "chunk" rather than "chuck," which is also an exaggeration because a friend decided to split the bill with me. So I ended up spending $600.)
