submerging fake flowers under water

I'm thinking of making my own center pieces for the sake of cost.  I really like the idea of some flower submerged in water with a floating candle.  Has anyone tried this? I read that sometimes if they're cheap silk, you can see the material fray.  I also am wondering if I get quality fake flowers, will this end up costing as much or more than if I would have just gotten real flowers?

Yes, sometimes fake flowers can cost as much as real. Your best bet is to just go to the craft store and pick out the type of vase and flowers you want and just try it. Get candles too so you can see the whole effect. Trial and error.

be careful of the dyes bleeding ... really, I would price out real vs fake  and no assume fake are cheaper...
Dendrobium orchids submerge nicely and only cost bout $3 a stem... fake would be  lot more than that....

do a trial run, some of them will start to leak dye from the petals, in that case you may just want to hire a florist so you don't have to do the work!
