So over Christmas we told our WP that we were planning on getting ourselves custom Converse for the wedding. Everyone loved the idea and wanted the shoes too. Since we have a total of 4 in the party, we decided the shoes would be their gift. Awesome.
We get back home from Christmas, and I have to badger everyone for about a month before I get everyone's shoe size (FOUR people, mind you). I was finally able to order the shoes near the end of January.
They show up around February 23rd. I love them, but mine are about 1/2 a size too big. I ask everyone else to try on their shoes asap and let me know how they fit. I hear nothing back except from the GM- His fit.
So at the beginning of March (about a week and a half later) I say I'm returning my shoes, let me know if yours need to be returned asap.
Nothing.
I go through all the hoops required to return the custom shoes, and get mine sent off.
A few days later we hear from the BM that his shoes are too big, but he can make them work.
Two days I ago I hear from my MOH that she hasn't even picked her shoes up from my parents yet.
Tonight, my BM messages me that she tried on her shoes and they're way too big.
What. The. Ef.
At this point, choices are limited. Returns take 3 weeks to process, the return has to completely process before I get a refund (of store credit), and the shoes take 5 weeks to make/ be delivered. So essentially, there is no way for this to work now.
On the other hand, I don't want to blow $250 on shoes that no one will ever wear again after the wedding.
Blargh.
We've written everyone asking for them to send the shoes back to us if they don't fit, to go to a store and try on Converses so they can find their correct size, and to let us know in the next two days so we could maybe try to reorder. Seeing as how it took everyone a month to get me their shoe size to begin with, I doubt that will work.
FI is going to call Converse tomorrow about the situation and to figure out why the crap their shoe sizing is so off.
Most of all I'm just amazed that we spent so much money on the stupid things, repeatedly asked everyone to try them on stressing how much time it would take to get them exchanged, and yet everyone pretty much waited until it was too late to do anything about it. One more headache I'm sure they all think I'm dying to deal with.
Not to mention we haven't asked the WP for ANYTHING. We've asked they all show up to the wedding in a gray suit or gray dress of their choosing. It seems the least they could've done was tried on a pair of shoes within two weeks.
Anyway. Thanks for "listening."
