Suggestions for a reception in a theater

Hi,

I am looking for a theater in Milwaukee that will allow a wedding reception to take place in its lobby? Can anyone suggest a beautiful theater in Milwaukee, Racine or Kenosha that will allow a wedding reception.

I have contacted the Oriental Theater and they have not gotten back to me yet. Has anyone gone to a wedding reception in the Oriental theater?

I am open to any recommendations for a beautiful theater in Milwaukee, WI.

Thank you.

Try the Skylight Theater in the THird Ward on Broadway. Its beautiful, not like the Oriental, but a very nice space.

Skylight does offer ceremonies, but I looked there for receptions and they are very restricted about the space.  I heard the Milwaukee Theater allows receptions, but you have to ask nicely or know somebody.  You can try the Times, or Rosebud in Wauwatosa.  Those are Movie theaters though.

Thank you for your suggestions. I will look into these theaters further.

Portialloveschri, I am curious to know what are the restrictions for the Skylight theater? Are you able to tell me if their food prices is greater than $35 a plate?

    Thank you for your help.

In the actual 'Theater' room in the skylight, you cannot have food. :(  It's a beautiful room, with balcony and theater seating and a stage, but it's just for a ceremony I suppose.  Upstairs was the space for receptions, but you have to bring in a caterer.  Still check it out, because it might be exactly what you're looking for.  It wasn't for me, because I wanted my reception in the theater space, but that's not possible.  So, I went with tradition and am doing the church/hotel thing.:)  Enjoy!

The Rosebud I would think is your best option.  I'd been in touch with the Oriental about a theater rental for our rehearsal dinner--It was reasonably priced on weeknights and only available for private rental on weekends before 1:00pm.

I work for a lot of the theatre's in Milwaukee and I think it is extremely expensive to get married in a theatre.  I know there are weddings at the Marcus Center for Preforming Arts and last time I heard it was about $45/plate plus rental fees for the spaces.  I am not sure about a wedding at the Oriental though.

The Milwaukee Repertory Theater is in a gorgeous building, not sure if they do weddings though.
