RSVP cards Children

Is it ok to only invite children of family not friends? How should it be worded on an RSVP card?

Reasons:
Our friends with kids are local so I feel they can arrange childcare. Our venue is small and we are paying for the wedding ourselves.

    Do not put anything on the RSVP card. Write the names of the children invites on the envelope.

    The RSVP card is for guests to write in who is attending, not for you to say who is invited. 

    On the envelope, specify exactly who is invited: 

    Mr. and Mrs. John Smith (not The Smiths or The Smith Family) 

    and if you want kids to come: 
    Mr. and Mrs. John Smith
    Sally and Joe
