How are you serving dinner? Plated, buffet?

If you are doing a plated dinner, what are you serving for each course?  Also, how are you dealing with vegetarians are you wedding if you are serving a plated?  Or are you only serving vegeterian plated meals?

I was thinking about doing family style, but I was wondering, how do they label each dish?  Its not like they can lable the pretty bowls that all the curries come out in.  If I decide to have both lamb and goat curry, how will people know what is what?

We did plated for everyone (including vegetarians). The vegetarian meal : Appetizer: chaat, Then a salad, and main course was briyani, okra, eggplant, and chickpea. Naan and Raita were served in bowls on the table.

At this time we are planning a vegetarian Indian buffet and a non-veg Tex-Mex buffet.

Our plan is we'll enter the reception, take our first dance then the floor and buffets will be open. People can eat and dance.... whatever they choose.

Passed appetizers, a plated salad, and then for the main course an Indian buffet and also some stations (risotto, mashed potatoes, etc).

Every traditional Desi wedding I've been to has been buffet, including our three receptions in India.

I wanted to do a buffet here, too, because I thought it makes it easier for people with special dietary needs... we had a lot of vegetarians as well as people who eat Halal, avoid red meat, or don't eat pork, beef, or seafood.  Our venue, however, only does family style meals (Chinese banquet style).  We had menu cards at each place setting describing exactly what was in each course, and the waiters also announced it when they served.  Everyone was able to figure out what to eat and everyone ate well (except my MOH who eats only Halal, and doesn't eat seafood, vegetables, noodles, tofu, or rice).

Check with your venue. We were thinking of doing buffet but then the venue of our choice charges more for buffet-style than doing a sit-down.
