Shine blotting paper recommendations

I'm getting married in a very hot and humid climate. I'm looking for blotting paper recommendations to touch up any shine and doesn't take away makeup.

I heard the Clean and Clear and some other brands has mineral oil on it and it absorbs the oil temporarily but then it comes back and clogs your pores.

I saw Shiseido from Sephora makes blotting paper without mineral oil but it's $17. A reviewer said she can get rice paper blotting paper at Sally Beauty Supply for $3.

Any recommendations?

Re: Shine blotting paper recommendations

  • I've used Clean & Clear for years and it works just fine.  It doesn't clog my pores.  I blot my face about twice a day and I have pretty oily skin.  I don't like using the rice paper blotting paper because it leaves the white powder on my face.  Another thing you can do is get on birth control.  I'm currently taking Yasmin and I've noticed a big difference.  I barely use my blotting sheets anymore.

  • LOL....I like StageManager's response.  I've also been using the Clean & Clear blotting sheets for years and I've had no problems.  And I have very sensitive skin that is prone to break-outs....I can't even use certain kinds of mineral make-up.  Depending on when your wedding is and if it's far enough in advance, you could try them out for a few weeks just to see how it goes.
  • Don't know if you want the papers only, but there is a thing called mineral veil by bare escentuals. It eliminates any shine but also absorbs oil. its only $19 and i love it and dont have to touch up my makeup anymore. I also started using their foundation!
  • One tip that I would suggest it to alternate using blotting sheets and powder.  The blotting sheets will help with the shine and then the next time use some powder to add back some of the coverage. Good luck!
  • I agree with PP. I alternate between the blotting sheets and powder. I've only used the Neutrogena brand because I received a couple packs for free. They work fine for me and I have VERY oily skin.

  • stage manager is exactly right! Zig Zag papers are amazing and as yucky as it sounds the toilet seat covers in the public bathrooms (use clean ones)  PUR minerals sells an oil control lotion that will help with excessive oil. It is only like  $19 and they sell it at ULTAs. Or better  yet go to a sephora and ask them for a sample of Cosmedicine's MeddiMat and use it under your makeup as a primer. You wont be oily for days! That stuff is amazing
  • I've used the Clean and Clear sheets for years and I LOVE them. My skin is very oily and I don't think I could stand to get by without them. :)
