Gifts for my Bridesmaids

So i want to get all my girls a personalized tote bag in their favorite color and there first initial but i cant seam to find any i like that are in my price range (25 each max) i looked at the ones here on the knot and they are perfect but they don't come in the colors i need. (red and purple)

does anyone else know where i should look?

Re: Gifts for my Bridesmaids

  • Will they actually enjoy something like this? I, personally, would never use this nor would I enjoy it. You should buy your BM gifts as if you were shopping for their birthdays or Christmas, not some wedding-industry crap they'll never use (not implying that these bags are crap, I just mean crap in general). I was a bridesmaid a few months ago and I got a 6-pack cooler with my inital on it and a bedazzled "Bridesmaid!" coozie. I left both at the hotel. On purpose.
  • all my girls love bags so i would get this for them for christmas or their birthday, I am also hand making all their necklaces also getting them a bottle of their favorite wines and a wine glass with their first initial on them as well.

Plus we live in an area where plastic bags are band so we all need reusable bags.
  • Okay good. I've seen cheap nice-looking bags at dollartree.com. But personalized - I have no idea.

Plastic bags are really actually banned in some areas?
  • yep here in california the bay are (san francisco bay area) plastic bags are band you can not get them so you have to bring a reusable bag or buy a paper bag for $0.10

I am trying to find them online... i have seam them at the dollar try and i have a few.. but they fall apart fast...
  • Check out Vistaprint.  I just played around with it and found one for $12.99.  It's not huge but it would be a nice bag that you could customize with the design and possibly also the color of the bag.  You may need to get a tan bag or something and then do purple flowers or purple writing or something.  I'm a big fan of Vistaprint and you can always find discounts.

<div>This sounds crazy to me. Am I allowed to bring my plastic bags into CA? Can you have the quick biodegradable kind? What do people put their dog poop in? I'm sorry but this is kind of blowing my mind.</div>
  • you can bring in your own plastic bag just don't expect for them to give them out to you. they do sell the bio ones for animals thats it. the reason behind this is to stop with the littering

They're banned, not band, and that doesn't necessarily mean that somebody needs a tote bag in your wedding colors with their initial on it.

  • Could you find a plain bag in the color you were looking for and personalize it yourself? Or possibly think about getting them in colors they like rather than your wedding colors.

  • Check out Etsy.com
  • Get the LL bean bags, if you do decide to get them each one - you can get ones customized with your choice of colors However, I would shy away from the monogramming if possible and choose COLORS FOR THEM, not colors to fit YOU. What if they don't like red and purple?

  • WeddingChicks has cute totebags that are really good quality. They have all different designs and ones you can choose with an initial and in different colors (scroll to page 5 for these). They're $10 each.

I honestly stocked up on walmart, and grocery store bags for a few months before this law changed in my county (alameda).  They have been banned for quite some time in San Francisco County.

I ran out of those bags quite quickly though, and now I buy the bio poo bags from the petstore.  My dogs poo a lot and big (rottweiler and a pitbull mix)...  so it ain't cheap to pick up poo !

LOL yeah those bags aren't cheap! I have a 100 lb. American Bulldog and luckily our apartment complex provides those poop bags but sometimes I need 2 or 3 per poop! We probably have hundreds of plastic bags shoved in between the washing machine and the dryer and I use those when the building runs out. I don't blame you for stocking up.

And to the PP, I don't want to speak for everyone, but I assume people here are usually anti-tote bag because it is such a generic wedding industry gift. I've received three or four of these for being a bridesmaid and they always end up at Goodwill. But if this is what these BMs want, then I absolutely agree with OP in buying them. I'd probably want one too if Walmart didn't put my groceries in plastic bags.

In So Cal they will still give out plastic bags, but in certain cities they are banned too.  I use biodegradable dog bags made from corn.  We just take any plastic bags we end up with (when we stop in without our cloth bags) back to the stores for recycling.
