Sandals Antigua or Sandals Grande St. Lucia?

My fiancee and I are in the process of starting to plan our honeymoon, and we know we really want to go to a Sandals because we want an all-inclusive and really like that they're couples only.  Can anyone provide suggestions as to which we should choose?  Thanks! :)

We're doing antigua because it sounds like there's more locals stuff we can do without feeling like the stand-out tourist compared to st lucia, or in fear of our lives (jamaica if you go off-resort), and there's gambling in Antigua which we like.  It also seemed far easier and less expensive to fly in and out of Antigua compared to St Lucia.

  • I'm having the same problem!  I think we will do Grande St. Lucia and hop around to the other two Sandals on St. Lucia.  Get a piece of it all!
  • FI and I are going to the Sandals Grande in St. Lucia next month for our honeymoon. We were torn between the exact 2 places and you are. The main reason we chose St. Lucia is because there are 2 other Sandals hotels that we can use aside from the one we are staying in. If you stay at one Sandals, you can use the amenities of all of them which is cool. The amount of restaurants and bars to hang out in at night seemed better to us and there is going to be a big festival when we are there which sounds fun too. While also at the same time it seems private and peaceful. The price was also a little cheaper for what we were looking for. It took us about 2months to decide, I dont think we will regret our decision. The only bad thing I am hearing about St. Lucia is that the ride from the airport to the hotel isn't the best. It is about an hour on long windy roads...but if thats the only bad thing then who cares. Good luck!!

  • We went to Antigua and absolutely loved it. We had a direct flight (major bonus), and it wasn't a long trip from the airport to the resort. It's a gorgeous island, and we took a circumnavigation tour of it with snorkeling and swimming with stingrays, and we did a ziplining tour.

  • We also went on our honeymoon to Sandals Antigua and loved it! We had wanted to go to Sandals Grande st Lucia because our friends went there and loved it too. We saw it was sold out for the nicer rooms that we wanted. So we chose Sandals Grande Antigua Mediterranean suites. Our room was beautiful! St Lucia was a bit more pricey and we also heard about the long trek over to to the resort. Some people got car sick my friend said. We did lots of snorkeling and went ziplining in the rainforest! If you choose Antigua I would recommend going to Shirley Heights on Sunday nights. The best view of the Island! We got amazing pictures! they had food and drinks there. with steel drum and reggae music. We also met and danced with some fun locals. : )

H and I went to Sandals Antigua back in January and had a good time.  In general, we're not fans of Sandals resorts, but Antigua was nice.  There are a lot of options for places to get off the resort, and the island is beautiful.  Like PP said - there is also a casino adjoining to the resort (not Sandals property) if you're into gambling.  We only planned 5 days for the trip, so the shorter flight time/less connections to Antigua were a big plus as well.

ETA:  I have a full review that I wrote for Trip Advisor.  If you want to read it, PM me and I'll send it to you.

    Thanks!
  • Thanks so much everyone for your insight into the different Sandals resorts.  My Fiance and I have been very interested in Sandals...because of its all inclusive packages and couples/adults only atmosphere.
