Looking for hair stylist referral

I'm in search of a new hairstylist, someone who is very good, has a good eye, good personality, and will not only do an exceptional job for the wedding, but would be good for regular hair maintenance.  I'm a little bit of a nervous hair client and I want to find someone who I can relate to and can trust to try different things with my hair.

I am looing in the Royal Oak/Berkley/Ferndale/Southfield/Clawson/Troy area.

Any recommendations??

Re: Looking for hair stylist referral

  • I had my hair done for the wedding by Lauren at Iconic in Royal Oak. I loved my hair for the wedding and highly recommend her for updo's (paid $45). However, I had my hair trimmed by her after the wedding... and I wasn't so thrilled. I've had my hair cut by Tracy, one of the owners of Iconic and it was one of the best cuts I've ever had, but it was $70.

In the past I've used 6 Salon in Royal Oak and recently checked out Palazzolo's and loved the cut I got there as well.
  • I go to Amy at Black the Salon in downtown Royal Oak.  I love her!!
    Anniversary
  • I travel a bit to get my hair done, but I don't trust anyone but her. I go to Violet's Salon across the street from Great Lakes Crossing. My stylist is Vanessa, I've known her for years and she's truly amazing. Well worth the extra drive(especially since I now live downriver)

  • I go to Fusion salon at 13 mile and Greenfield. Kristy is wonderful. She has been doing my hair for years and she also does lots of weddings. She will come to where ever you need her to. Shes young and hip but not pushy. Give her a call 248-288-4860.Congrats on your big day!

  • Danielle at 6 in Bham does a great job. I've been to every salon in the area and she my fav :)
  • Eric @ Macy's Premier Salon inside Macy's of Somerset Mall is AMAZING. I've been going to see him for 13ish years and I haven't had to tell him what to do in YEARS. He just does it and it comes out amazing every time.
  • Thank you for all of your recommendations!
  • Sorry, late to the post. I go to Stephanie at Bianchi's on Main St in Royal Oak. She is half of "Deux Adore", they do hair & makeup onsite for weddings (her sister Jen does the makeup). Started going to her about 6 months or more before the wedding, my daughter is 17 and loves her too. She does a great job. She gave me my long hair cuts/trims before the wedding, then my "wife chop" for very short hair after the wedding. Does great color too, highlights, whole head, etc.

(as long as you don't mind someone who looks like Scarlett Johanssen (sp?)doing your hair..........she's so lovely, LOL). But she's fun too, and has hit it off with both me and my daughter.
  • My friend swears by Debbie at Cole Street Salon in Birmingham. She has been going there for years and her hair always looks amazing. We are all going to her for our wedding 'hair dos'!

  • KD!!

I go to Black the Salon in RO also!!! I love her and she did my hair for my wedding and it was beautiful. I've been going to her for about 4 years and i have never been disapointed. She does make-up too, which is awesome...Can't say anything bad about her:)
